PAT Testing

PAT testing is an important part of your business and the people who work in it. ACE PAT Testing will provide the best PAT testing service so that your business will be compliant with its obligations to its equipment safety.

ACE PAT Testing cover the South of England and we also specialise in testing IT equipment as well. Our PAT testing service also covers landlords who are obligated to PAT test appliances that are used by their tenants.

PAT testing covers many appliances with a mains plug including:

  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Computers
  • Monitors
  • Audio and telephone equipment
  • Kitchen appliances
  • Extension leads

Why PAT Testing?

Why PAT Testing?

PAT is not absolutely compulsory so why PAT testing? PAT testing is the best way of meeting the required electrical regulations that protect tenants, customers and employees and without these PAT tests if an accident happens the person liable could be in a difficult situation.

Why PAT testing? All portable electrical equipment suffers from damage through its life time. Equipment can become dangerous and PAT testing will help prevent any accidents from occurring to users.

PAT testing is done regularly and in line with the amount of use the appliances has.

Failure to comply with the Electrical Regulations may be considered a criminal offence and also landlords can be sued under Civil Law under the duty of care for failure to ensure tenants safety.

PAT Testing for Business

PAT testing for business prevents any harm coming to employees and customers in a planned and regular appliance testing programme that will comply with the businesses obligations.

Insurance companies assume that when they cover businesses the owner is complying with all the regulations necessary. Insurance companies may refuse, delay or reduce pay for claims if equipment has not been tested.

To meet the 1989 Electricity at work regulations, PAT testing for business is widely regarded as necessary. In the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers have a legal duty to make sure plant and equipment is safe and maintained in this state.

PAT Process

PAT Process

The PAT process involves a thorough check of the appliance with a series of tests using professional PAT testing equipment. The PAT process complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the new 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and your businesses own Fire Risk Assessment.

The PAT process involves testing the equipment for faults and then it is given a pass or fail sticker. A certificate can then be issued with the results found on. Faults that can be done in situ are done but repairs that require more time and resources will be reported to the manager of the business.

The PAT process can be done out of hours to minimise disruption and the testing is done in strict accordance with the necessary bodies and codes of practice.

Asset Tracking

Asset tracking is part of your PAT testing process and helps to keep track of your portable appliances.

Asset tracking provides you with information on your appliances, location and test status. This means that you can manage your appliances with the least disruption and instead of a sticker the appliance will get a bar-coded asset label.

The appliance can then be supplied as computer data or in hard copy form. You can also get more detailed information if you require.

Microwave Testing

ACE PAT Testing offer microwave testing in line with our PAT testing service. Your microwave testing can be done at the same time as your PAT test.

We can test both industrial and consumer microwaves and our microwave testing involves measuring radiation levels using microwave detection equipment. We will also check safety interlock switches and door seals to ensure the microwaves are compliant with legal limits.
