Isomass Ltd provides acoustic soundproofing materials and systems accepted under Approved Document E of the Building Regulations. Acoustic solutions are available for all deck, batten, cradle, screed, wall and ceiling applications. Our expertise covers all areas of standards for soundproofing materials in rooms for residential purposes.
Our latest innovation is a cross-fluted engineered card and hardboard carcass with a finely compacted loose sand mixture inside. It exhibits high mass with unique self-decoupling properties. It can be fitted to any type of wall construction and is simple to install.
Soundproofing London
We understand that the impact of noise has a huge effect on our environment. We provide soundproofing in London and across the UK. We deal with sound transmission in buildings that result from both an airborne and an impact noise source.
Airborne sound is generated from sources such as radio or tV and travels through the air into the fabric of a building. Impact sound is the result of mechanically exciting the fabric of the structure with events such as footfall or the moving of a chair.
Acoustic Wall
Our new acoustic wall with cross-fluted engineered card and hardboard carcass has compacted loose sand inside that means it has high mass with special self-decoupling properties.
Our acoustic walls offer 36dB Airborne performance in a single product, and can be constructed from wood, steel or solid substrates. We can provide new builds, conversions, refurbishments and remedial work and domestic upgrades.
We also provide:
- DIBt German Agrément awarded BBA Agrément Certification
- Speed of installation time and low cost labour
- Simple fitting, easy butt joints, no taping joints, no flanking strips, can be cut with a knife or jigsaw, easy wall fixing
- Minimal 15mm thickness avoids problems associated with door thresholds and re-fitting skirting in refurbishments
- Gives excellent results at low frequencies
- Provides thermal mass to lightweight framed structures
Acoustic Floor
Acoustic floors can help reduce intrusive and unwanted noise.
One of the most common causes for a reduction in sound insulation performance are flanking paths and these must be identified and dealt with before an effective sound insulation solution is adopted. Isomass Ltd. has the expertise to identify and provide solutions for such situations and can provide acoustic floor to help this.
The acoustic isolation of any adjoining structure can be compromised by 'flanking'. Flanking noise occurs where there is an alternative path that sound can use to bypass an insulating element. This could be due to mechanical bridging or hidden cavities, such as poor mortar joints or inadequate dry lining.
Building Regulations - Noise/Sound Insulation
We comply with many of Building Regulations - Noise/Sound Insulation like Approved Document E (ADE) of the Building Regulations 2003 (amended 2004) for England & Wales designed to provide standards for acoustic insulation.
These new ADE regulations have changed the pass criteria for airborne sound by putting a greater emphasis on low frequency sound (100Hz - 400Hz) -- the root cause of many complaints about noise.
These new building regulations apply to both new builds and conversion projects consisting of rooms for residential purposes. That includes hostels, nursing homes and student accommodation.
It also applies to the separating walls, floors and ceilings between adjoining dwellings. Our systems are designed to comply with these standards and it is important to understand that builders will need to demonstrate that they have been achieved them.
Isocheck RENOVO System
Our products are manufactured with environmentally friendly Ecopoli suitable for E1 - material change of use. They can be used in conjunction with conversions, refurbishments, new builds, and listed buildings requiring minimal structural change
Isocheck RENOVO system is designed to reduce sound transmission through traditional joisted timber floors. It can be installed directly over existing floorboards making the system ideal for new build, conversion and refurbishment projects.
Isocheck RENOVO consists of a 8mm layer of Ecopoli bonded to 18mm p5 moisture-resistant chipboard or a new 18mm, carbon negative, p5 strawboard.
When installed as part of a complete party floor construction either system enables a traditional timber joisted floor to meet the sound transmission standards of ADE 2003 (amended 2004). Isocheck RENOVO further enhances its appeal by allowing existing ceilings to be reused thus avoiding energy consumption in either their disposal or recycling. They can be applied over existing floorboards for conversions, refurbishments or new build with a new resilient bar ceiling.
Comprehensive Technical Support
Isomass offers comprehensive technical support to designers and builders working with our acoustic systems, including:
- Data sheets and installation instructions
- CAD details
- Copies of test certificates
- Design and installation guidance
- Testing
We produce design and sitework guidance on how to incorporate services, fixtures and fittings and how to provide additional sound absorption within the acoustic floor construction. Our comprehensive technical support can also advise on different floor designs within any given application.
Accessories
We offer a wide range of accessories including Isocheck isolation tape used to enhanced the impact sound transmission on stud walls, steel and timber joists. Commonly used for refurbishment upgrades, its adhesive backing ensures it can be held in position as the works progress.
We also have Intumescent acoustic sealant. Isocheck acoustic fire rated sealant is used to reduce the unwanted airborne sound that is commonly found to pass around the junction between ceilings and walls.
Furthermore, our accessories include Impacta Pads. Impacta Pads are excellent for isolating the backs of kitchen cupboards to break the unwanted connection between the floating floor and the structure. This common connection encourages impact sound transmission to travel from the units down the structural wall to the dwelling below.
