Apex pallet racking is manufactured in the UK maintaining many of the original Acrow design features but with the benefit of 21st Century production techniques making Apex one of the most sought after racking systems in the UK today.

Pallet Racking:

Apex Pallet Racking is a modular system designed to meet specific customer requirements. Pallet racking frames are of a bolted construction and are available in four upright sections APEX UK 08, 12, 16 and 20; with the APEX UK 20 being the heaviest duty with a nominal 20,000kgs capacity. The frames are available in heights from 900mm up to 8,400mm in 75mm increments and most depths with; 450, 600, 750, 900, 1100, 1200 and 1350mm being the most common. The beams again come in a variety of sections and lengths to meet individual customer criteria. Beams are available in lengths of 75mm increment. All uprights and beams benefit from an Epoxy Powder Coat finish in house colours, however, other colours are available at an extra cost.

PALLET RACKING SYSTEMS

• Wide Aisle Pallet Racking- Wide Aisle Racking is the most widely used storage system for palletised loads. Single and double sided runs of racking are separated by wide aisles to suit the customers existing fork lift trucks.
   
• Heavy Duty Pallet Racking
   
• Narrow Aisle Pallet Racking - Narrow Aisle Racking consists of the same basic components as wide aisle racking but with the runs of racking placed closer together eliminating the wasted space of a wide aisle. The pallets can be stored to a greater height to maximise all available space. The pallets are accessed via specialist trucks which are guided in the aisles by either wire in the floor or floor mounted guide rail.
   
• Drive In Pallet Racking -  is used where high density storage is required. It is frequently used in facilities with a low number of product lines. Pallets are stored in a block system with two blocks generally served by one operating aisle. The trucks drive into the racking to load or retrieve pallets which are stored on cantilevered rails running throughout the system. The first pallet in is the last pallet out unless a Drive Through system is used, whereby pallets can be loaded or retrieved from either side of the block.
   
• Push Back Pallet Racking-  Push Back Racking is a form of live storage with pallets being stored two, three or four deep. pallets are loaded onto a trolley or carrier which pushes the other pallets back up a channel rail. When a pallet is removed from the system the remaining ones in that lane will roll forward. Pallets are accessed from one side only. 
   
• Pallet Live Storage - Pallet Live Racking comprises sloping roller beds supported on pallet racking to form a block. Pallets are loaded in to the system at the on-load face and roll forward to the off-load face from where they are removed from the system.
   
• Mobile Pallet Racking - Mobile racking is easily configured to utilise the most space available for the storage of pallets. The racking is mounted on a mobile chassis which move along guided rails installed within the floor.  This design is often used for cold stores, where the maximum amount of space can be used for storage.

Long Span Shelving:
Like Apex Pallet Racking the Apex Long Span Shelving is a modular system designed to meet specific customer requirements. Frames are of a riveted or bolted construction APEX UK 06. The frames are available in heights from 750mm up to 8,400mm in 50mm increments and most depths with; 450, 600, 750, 900, 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1350mm being the most common. The beams again come in a variety of sections and lengths to meet individual customer criteria. Beams are available in lengths of 50mm increment. All uprights and beams benefit from an Epoxy Powder Coat finish in house colours, however, other colours are available at an extra cost.

Racking Protection:
Apex Storage Limited provide a wide range of column guards. Column guards or rack protectors are commonly used to protect the pallet racking uprights which can be damaged by FLTs (fork lift trucks). We can offer protection to standard rack uprights using a variety of different column guards and the innovative Rackdefender. Select from our 2 or 3 sided column guards standard to heavy duty options. Using the column guard together with the Rackdefender (Combo) significantly reduced upright damage from incidental impact. Finished in high visibility orange our column guards can be supplied complete with floor fixings in 2 weeks. Impact damage to the rack upright can lead to critical component failure and at worst a rack collapse.

In addition to providing new systems Apex Storage Limited provide an excellent racking inspection service. Customers receive a detailed rack inspection report together with the rack inspection survey sheets clearly identifying rack damage and areas of concern. We also provide a racking repair service to compliment the rack inspections.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
 
The latest Health and Safety guide HSG76 states:
 
Inspect racking regularly to make sure it is repaired and maintained properly and is safe.
 
You should use three types of inspection:
 
1. Immediate reporting of damage and defects
2. Visual inspections at regular intervals
3. Expert inspections carried out at regular intervals by a competent person
 
  
In addition, you need a rack safety inspection to satisfy yourselves that your racking conforms with the current guidelines identified by SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association).
 
You need a rack safety inspection where fork lift truck movements are frequent. Generally, the greater the activity the greater the need for inspections.
 
You need a rack safety inspection to identify damaged components. Damaged or missing components significantly increase the risk of racking collapse.
 
You need a rack safety inspection to provide evidence to outside bodies that you take the safety of your personnel seriously and take the appropriate action to provide a safe working environment including replacing damaged racking components.
 
You need a rack safety inspection to ensure your racking remains serviceable and fit for the purpose to facilitate the continued and effective operation of your business.
