Deller McClafferty have been producing bespoke balustrades for high-end interior refurbishments in both residential and retail/leisure environments since 1995.

We have had experience in the manufacture and installation of balustrades in a wide number of materials including stainless steel, glass, wrought-iron and cast-iron and can incorporate details in wood, plastic, bronze and brass etc.

Many of our designs are first drawn using CAD and where appropriate components can be manufactured by CNC before being carefully assembled in our workshop and finished by hand for that special touch of luxury.

Our in-fills can be supplied to fit an existing staircase in need of refurbishment, or can be brand new designs for a new-build staircase.

Apart from decorative metalwork we also can supply and fit contemporary balustrade infills such as wire-rope, high-tension rods, stainless steel netting, perforated steel panels and laser-cut designs.

Deller McClafferty Design can also supply bespoke handrails in a wide variety of materials to suit the client’s specific needs. This can be anything from tubular stainless steel handrail systems for DDA access ramps to unique hand cast and hand-finished bronze handrails for luxury apartments.

Wooden handrails can also be supplied in standard and bespoke profiles as well as heritage brass handrails for traditional entrances and minimal stainless-steel handrails for contemporary interiors.

Deller McClafferty Design manufacture custom made and bespoke steel staircases for the private domestic and retail markets.

Recent projects have included simple straight flight stairs to a mezzanine, a pair of helical staircases with iron balustrades and exotic hardwood treads to a private domestic development and a double flight cantilever staircase with oak treads and stainless steel handrail for a refurbishment project to a modern home in central London.

Other projects have included a staircase for a restaurant with frosted glass and aluminium treads, glass in-fills and stainless steel handrails in Holborn and a free-standing staircase in folded steel with oak treads for a luxury apartment.

As specialists in all forms of metal fabrication we can offer a service for architects producing unique and special items that are not available off-the-shelf.

Our in-house facilities allow us to produce one-off and small batch turned parts in metals such as bronze, brass, steel, stainless steel and aluminium. We also operate a manual mill suitable for one-offs and prototyping.

DMDesign also has the facility for manufacturing components and patterns in wood or resin for sand-casting multiples. Our hand-finishing processes then enables us to apply a wide variety of finishes ranging from bright-polished metal to both hot and cold patination and wax and oil finishes.

Using these processes we have manufactured items as diverse as bespoke furniture, doors, glazed doors, door handles, cabinet fittings, sculpture and lighting.

Additionally we have a wide range of contacts to supply us with high-spec finishes that cannot be carried out in-house such as forging, galvanising, powder-coating, electro-plating and PVD.
