Our helpful staff at The City Binders have a combined experience of 75 years in the trade and will never let you down. We are here to meet your submission day.
City Binders will help and advise you on the preparation, set up and layout of your thesis or any other art work and design related to your book, while David Stevens, our Master Bookbinder will advise you on any aspect of thesis bookbinding as well as case making, repairs and restoration.

Your loving childhood book to the rare Antiquarian antique volume, from the large Family Bible to a precious Biggles novel, from cloth to Leather, from a simple page repair through to a book with its spine hanging from the last thread to a book that has been left in despair little or non of the original. We will get it back to a state that you can lovingly read and enjoy the books for what they are.
These are undertaken, with a consultation from viewing the volume in need of care, advice of the style, type of repair options open to your particular volume, price and time scale are given. Repairing and Restoring old volumes is time consuming and long lead times will be realistically appreciated.

Contracts are now bound using Vello system as this is strong and very secure. Ideal for the near instant contract and legal binding options. Companies and Contract legal businesses requirimg, Closing Documents or Financial Bibles bindings to a strong, safe, and secure with styled efficient bindings and binders.
Have a collection of any Periodical that you would like bound from the last Dandy comics through to a Trade Medical, Legal and commercial Periodical journal.

Wiro Binding
Wire binding enables the pages to open completely flat. This is ideal for music, etc; maximum thickness 30mm. Comes with the option of Acetate/Card Front/Back Covers
Velo Binding
Vello binding is a very strong binding system and can bind documents as well as others. Comes with the option of Acetate/Card Front/Back Covers
Thermo Binding
Thermo binding uses a very hot adhesive that melts and grips the edge of the paper sheets; this has the advantage of opening near flat and is also aesthetically pleasing. Maximum capacity 37mm, but the type and weight of paper also contributes to what is the maximum?

Periodical Binding
We bind small and/or large runs.

A3 Binding
A3 binding both portrait and landscape.
Leather Binding
Commissioned one offs and presentation bindings, in Leather and other fabrics. Marbled paper endpapers and Moray silks are available with all styles.
Perfect Binding
Perfect binding is often used, and gives a result similar to paperback books. National Geographic is perhaps the best known of this type. Paperback or soft cover books are also normally bound using perfect binding. They usually consist of various sections with a cover made from heavier paper, glued together at the spine with a strong flexible glue.
Page Processing
This process is used for Vello binding and Hard binding single sheets that are either have a thick capacity or are needed for security and strength.

Hand Sewn Section
This original style of binding paper together is a craft of its own. From the origins of Coptic and other cord sewing through to Tape sewing (illustrated). This enhances the books life, opens easier and is more appealing to read or view. Other styles include Japanese sewing.
