Total Board Solutions Ltd (TBS) was formed in 1998 with the aim of providing on site services to companies within the PCB industry. 

As well as design work, TBS has also been engaged for onsite support, training and consultancy. A key goal of the company has not been only to provide design services but to also educate the in-house designers through knowledge transfer during consultancy engagements. This particular service has proved useful especially to start-ups where the time pressures of completing designs are huge; in this environment the luxury of climbing the learning curve to becoming experts does not exist. By providing jump-start training in essentials these companies have hit the road running!

Our design competencies span all spectrums of the electronics industry from the design of cost effect single side boards to complex, multi-layer high-speed; from single RF modules to the full riggers of mixed signal hand-set design.

PCB Designs

The core of our business is PCB design, as you would expect. The company boasts over thirty year’s experience covering all aspects of design type and design technology. The markets we have served are many and varied; Satellite, telecommunications (basestations and handset design), mobile communications, military to the motor industry to name but a few.

These diverse market areas has lead the team to be capable of designing with all the latest techniques e.g. microvias, ball grid arrays, chip scale packages, flip chip for all types of boards e.g. RF, High-speed and power boards.

We have a vast experience in circuit board design across all aspects of the design process. Our expertise includes:

  • Library management – Process control and configuration

  • Software transition within the Mentor Graphics flow
This expertise spans many electronic market segments, communications, mil-aero and organisational structures from small design teams to multi-nationals.

Schematic Capture

Unlike some design houses all our staff are totally competent in all aspects of the complete flow. This means we can cover the complete design cycle from schematic entry through to post processing.

Whether you are using a Library Management System or have your own library our designers are aquainted with all aspects of the flow and are capable of creating symbols with all the necessary support data no matter which Mentor Graphic toolset you use.

Library Management

Our team are highly trained in all aspects of library management from creating a standard library through to a complete Library Manangement System environment for customers. Our dseigners are conversant with standards such as SM-782 to help ensure a high quality library.

Joint venture with fabrication house to improve custom design techniques to work towards achieving 6 sigma by reducing their pportunities for error ultimately with the aim to lower their fabrication costs

Mentor Graphics Training

Our team are Mentor approved trainers providing Mentor courses for Mentor Graphics. We also offer various other short courses on a wide variety of PCB design issues. We have trained all over the world from London to Scotland, from Ireland to Turkey and even in the USA.

Courses are currently held at customer sites throughout the UK. However, for larger class sizes or where customers prefer an independent location we have facilities in the North West and the South of England.
