Microwave Antennas - British Manufacturer

Cobham Antenna Systems, Microwave Antennas develop and manufacture directional, sector, ultra wideband and omni-directional antennas typically within 150MHz to 40GHz. Based at a single UK location, the company manufactures antennas used globally within Security and Surveillance, Military, Satellite and WiMAX/LTE markets.

Our high quality antennas are in use in applications as diverse as Unmanned Vehicles (for example Boeing X48B), the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, T5, Mark Resources Radar, BAE Systems/Qinetiq  Doppler Radar, Tactical Comms, PMR and Tetra, WiMAX and LTE, Electronic Warfare, Security, Surveillance (overt and covert), COFDM and Cellular DAS.

We have an existing catalogue of over 1500 designs available to manufacture.  Small adjustments may be made to these existing antenna designs.  Full antenna development programmes are undertaken for customers.

Defence Antennas for Unmanned Systems

Antenna for Unmanned Airborne, Ground Based Platforms, Control Data Links and Robotics

Unmanned systems provide operational functions for airborne and remote ground surveillance, video transmission, border patrol and tactical systems. In all cases uninterrupted communication to the control centre is vital, the correct antenna being critical to ensure system performance, battery-life and transmission distance.

Antennas include high gain, vertically polarised omni antennas installed in aerodynamic structures, Common Data Link Ku-band omni antennas with circular polarisation and up to 4dBiC gain, phase and amplitude matched spiral antennas for direction finding and directional antennas for communication between airborne towed target and aircraft.

Antennas for Ground Control Centre

Antennas are available for control centre or remote platform. A compact Multi Sector
antenna array provides intermediate range coverage for quick deployment, tactical applications.

Antennas for Electronic Warfare

IED Countermeasures

We have a portfolio of ultra wideband, omni and directional planar spiral antennas in the range 50MHz to 18GHz covering all the bands in which high power amplifiers currently operate.

Defence Antennas for Tactical Communications

Antennas for Tactical Communications cover a variety of systems used by convoys, airborne vehicles, soldiers and control centres.

Link16 - JTIDS - JTRS - MIDS - Body-Worn - Common Data Link - Point to Point Links - Point to Multipoint Networks

Link16

The Link16 protocol uses frequency bands covering 960 to 1215MHz.  All our Link16 antennas are rugged, designed for extremes of weather and temperature, and tested under theatre conditions without affecting the performance or inhibiting mission requirements.

 Battlefield Communications

Reliable radio communications are crucial in theatre. Slim, light weight man-pack/body-worn antennas are designed to provide an improved signal pattern for greater all round coverage.

C-Band Antennas

C-Band antennas, 4.4 to 6.0GHz are available for fixed and mobile, military and security, data links, WLAN, telemetry and video and voice links.

Directional Antennas The range includes directional antennas that are usually slim, flat panels  with a discreet profile, low wind loading and have robust construction.

Omni Antennas Tough omni antennas may be mounted on fixed or vehicle locations, and have spring mount options.

Sector and Multi Sector Antennas Normally used as base stations, plus multi sector arrays provide wide area coverage and are contained in a single radome.

Radar Antennas

There are a variety of radar systems working on the principle of a high power pulse of CW transmitted RF signal being reflected from the 'target' and being received by the same antenna.  The antenna characteristics are critical to the system performance in order to resolve the target image.

Portable and Fixed - Stripline and Waveguide - FMCW - Pulse

Satellite Antennas

Ground Based and Mobile Satcom - Inmarsat - Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd - Directional antennas for Meteosat - Iridium - Passive and Active GPS antennas - Thuraya - 1.52 to 1.66GHz

High gain directional antennas can be pointed at the correct azimuth and elevation angles so that peak gain is directed towards the satellite, and can be located anywhere within the satellite footprint.

A choice of antennas provide connectivity within Thuraya satellite coverage. Integral active antennas provide fast GPS acquisition. Satellite/GPS integrated antennas are  used within the Thuraya satphone docking unit and SM2500 module.

Rugged antenna withstands a hostile environment to provide meteorological data on data collection platforms and weather ships.

Security and Surveillance Antennas

Small, discreet and robust, our antennas are used for covert and overt systems, high speed data and video links, tracking and remote monitoring systems within security and surveillance applications around the world.

Commercial Applications for Antennas

A wide range of directional antennas, sector antennas and omni-directional antennas are available for:

Electronic News Gathering (ENG) - COFDM - Cellular DAS - PMR and Tetra - RFID Zonal, Portal, Covert,Road Tolling - WLAN - WiMAX and LTE
