Stone & boulder signs
Natural glaciated boulders are selected from all over the UK for size and shape to suit our products. Text and graphics can be sandblasted onto the faces of the stone. A carved effect that cuts into the face, or a relief image can be created. Text and graphics can be painted to give product more impact. Application of an anti-grafitti coating makes these vandal resistant, theft proof, and will prevent vehicle access. Ideally suited for welcome to signs, entrance features where there is foot path and pedestrian access to public open spaces, a favorite product for sites managed by local councils. Boulders provide information with minimal maintenance, and will stand the test of time.

For pictorial interpretation work, a mixture of both is used to maximum effect. Detail can be painted, or left natural which is this material is very effective. Anti-graffiti coatings are applied to all sandstone products. These stone are ideally suited for entrance signs, commemorative features and pictorial interpretation. Sandblasted paving
This images is one of many paving slabs produced for Liverpool City Council. Project led by Artist - Simon Faithful. Images were supplied to us from Simon, and adapted to suit the sandblasting process. Pixelated design made up of pixels measuring 1.5mm x 1.5mm. Design sandblasted on sawn finish Elizabethen Sandstone with a fine sandblasted finish to surface to give anti-slip grip.
Sandstone Interpretation
This stone has, what SSC calls Pictorial Interpretaion on the sawn face. The client lists the flora and fauna they wish to be featured on the stone. Our designer creates a scene incorporating all the items on the list. The designer researches the location, and sources images to work from, then montages all of this into a fabulous piece of artwork. QR codes, Layar, and NFC tag technology can be installed on to products to allow additional content and information to be downloaded to a mobile device.Graffiti coating are now applied to all sandstone products.
Art project in paving
This project was led by artist Wendy briggs for a new school. A handprint was supplied of all the pupils at the school. We scanned and adapted each handprint and incorporate into a 3m x 3m circle, and sandblasted the design into riven slate paving. Sandblasted shapes were highlighted with stone hilite.
Slate Public artwork
Dimensional slate pieces were used, the tops shaped to make them look more natural, two pieces used to create more shape and interest. SSC's designer created the Celtic hand design specifically for the motto 'service above self' The surface is riven finish with the lettering all sandblasted and painted. The Celtic knot is raised and painted on a sandblasted circle. Whole stone treated with an anti graffiti coating. This project for Motherwell and Wishaw Rotary Club is sited in a garden of reflection at Wishaw General Hospital, and was commissioned to celebrate the Millennium.
Interpretive Slate monolith
A natural large piece of slate is used here for this interpretive piece. School pupils created elements of artwork reflecting historic aspects of their town, along with a poem by local poet that our designer worked up into a montage. All graphics sandblasted and infilled with black paint. Whole stone treated with grafitti coating.
