Recent years have seen Technical Cranes enhance its special lifting systems division. Health & Safety and production & efficiency are two of the major issues that organisations are seeing more as key factors when planning project work.

As a result many organisations are approaching us to help create bespoke material handling systems, which adhere to Health & Safety regulations while maximising production & efficiency. These are both short term projects and long term materials handling needs, where creative thinking coupled with experience and knowledge of lifting equipment Is required to overcome material handling issues.

Major project work to date includes the refurbishment work at Waterloo Station and St Pancras Station, London and Sony Entertainment Headquarters, Soho London.

Technical Cranes relocates Bradford Cylinders Lifting Equipment to new facility, which extends to over 6000 square metres. It is a historical move as Bradford Cylinders had been at its original site for over 100 years.

The project involved supplying Bradford Cylinders with a refurbished 10 Tonne SWL Loading Bay Crane and Gantry and installing 4 bays of floor rails for Goliath type cranes totalling a travel length of 250 metres. The cranes are electrically fed by bussbar systems suspended at roof level from the portal steelwork. Nine overhead cranes from the old works at Allerton Road were removed in phases to minimise disruption to Bradford’s production. They were brought back to our Rotherham works to undergo modification and refurbishment.
Each crane had Goliath legs manufactured and where necessary the spans were altered to suit the new rail centres. Each crane was overhauled and any worn parts were replaced.

Inverter control was installed to the long travel motion of each crane to give a slow and controlled start up and slower and safer travel speeds. The cranes were also fitted with a flashing light, Claxton and Itowa overload protection devices. Finally before reinstallation each crane was fully cleaned and painted.

On completion of the commissioning the cranes were issued with a report of through examination and put straight back into production ready for the next 100 years.
