Springs Supplier

As a specialist springs supplier Airedale Springs Ltd can offer you any quantity you may require and the quality of service will always remain exactly the same. Modern techniques mean that we are able to provide a flexible service for small orders and 'one-off' customers, as well as for larger, regular associates.

Airedale's flexible attitude to business is the reason for its continued success as they offer a friendly, helpful service on an individual basis, backed up by unparalleled design assistance. It is no wonder Airedale supply to a host of leading names in British industry, often as a single source springs supplier.

Spring Supplier of:

  • compression springs
  • extension springs
  • torsion springs
  • double torsion springs

and many others...

Compression Springs

Compression Springs

Airedale have production facilities to manufacture a large selection of compression springs; either parallel or conical, with or without ground ends.

Terms used in compression springs:

  •  Wire diameter
  •  Outside diameter
  •  Inside diameter
  •  Mean diameter (cannot be measured)
  •  Free Length
  •  Load Length
  •  Load at L1
  •  Spring rate
  •  Total number of coils
  •  Total number of active coils
  •  Solid length (max length with all coils closed)

Knowing where a spring is designed to fit will always be beneficial. What are the sizes of the hole or shaft? Components can be supplied in a variety of packaging or to your specific requirements.

Extension Springs

Airedale have the perfect  facilities to produce and manufacture an eclectic range of extension springs, with either cross over or machine loop designs. They can also supply you with swivel hooks or special inserts.

Terms used for extension springs:

  • Wire diameter
  • Outside diameter
  • Inside diameter
  • Mean diameter (cannot be measured)
  • Free Length inside loops
  • Load Length
  • Load at L1
  • Spring rate
  • Initial tension
  • Total Coils

A variety of packaging or particular specific requirements can be met in the supply of all components for extension springs.

Torsion Springs

Airedale have specialist facilities to produce and manufacture a large variety of torsion springs; either single or double torsion.

As the designs for torsion springs are becoming increasingly detailed and complicated, Airedale Springs Ltd has continued to put investment into modern CNC coiling equipment and in training for its employees. This enables the production of particularly detailed designs and leg shapes by CNC or traditional methods.

Utilising the latest in design programmes, Airedale can assist in solving many design issues. They also produce a wide variety of samples for design verification and testing.

Terms used in torsion springs:

  • Wire diameter
  • Outside diameter
  • Inside diameter
  • Mean diameter (cannot be measured)
  • Total number of coils

Manufacturing tolerances used are those detailed in BS1726 - 3 (2002) unless otherwise specified.

Packaging:

Torsion springs which are made with complex leg shapes may be subject to tangling problems. Airedale has sought methods for supplying components to avoid these issues and also to help auto assembly as well as giving protection during transport and storage.

Flat Springs

Airedale have state of the art facilities to manufacture and produce an impressive range of components from flat and square section materials for flat springs. These facilities include multislide, power presses, special purpose and standard tooling.

Clips and pressings for flat springs are manufactured from an eclectic range of materials to suit their specific design and functional requirements. We can manufacture components from:

  • Carbon and Stainless Steels
  • Beryllium - Copper
  • Phosphor - Bronze
  • Brass
  • Aluminium
  • Copper
  • Nickel Base Alloys

Annealed carbon steels are moderately simple to form but often require hardening and tempering after forming. This can result in distortion of thin or complex components. Carbon steels may also require corrosive protection, such as plating or oiling. Stainless steels avoid the need for corrosion protection and hardening and tempering. Bi-directional bends in stainless steel are limited due to grain direction within the material.

Wire Forms

Wire forms and their shapes are only restricted by the imagination of the designer and with the latest CNC forming machines the capability to produce such wire forms is, in many situations, only limited by the ability and imagination of the machine setter.

Airedale Springs has continued investment in the newest CNC coiling/wire forming machines and increases its capabilities including those in wire forms.

Airedale are capable of producing simple wire forms or complex wire forms by utilising the most efficient methods possible, such as CNC, special tooling or hand made processes, as appropriate.

The components Airedale has manufactured are used in a diverse variety of applications including:

  • Baggage label clips
  • Electrical switchgear
  • Light fittings
  • Hooks
  • Telecommunications equipment
  • Textile machinery
  • Safety equipment

Packaging:

Components can be supplied in a number of packaging options suitable for the protection of this type of spring.

Clock Springs

Clock springs, also known as power springs, can be manufactured in an eclectic range of sizes with many different end and arbor fittings.

Over many years Airedale have developed their facilities for the manufacture of springs. Airedale springs are manufactured from pre-hardened and tempered materials.

Airedale's reputation for producing high quality clock springs of this type has resulted in them being exported around the world. The facilities allow the manufacture and production of springs from small sizes up to 750mm outside diameter. Larger springs can be provided in wire rings or fitted in mild steel bands.

Double Torsion Springs

Airedale has the production facilities to manufacture a large amount of double torsion springs and single torsion springs.

With continued investment in modern CNC coiling equipment and in the training of its employees, Airedale Springs Ltd is able to produce detailed designs and leg shapes by CNC or traditional methods.

Using the latest design programmes, Airedale Springs Ltd can assist in solving specific design problems within double torsion springs. They can also produce a wide range of samples for design verification and testing.
