Resin Bond wheels are manufactured using either phenolic or polyimide resin for grinding very hard materials which conventional abrasives cannot manage.

The phenolic are for lower stress, cooler cutting applications and the polyimide for higher stress more wear resistant applications. Available with Diamond or CBN.The main advantages to Resin Bond are:

Metal Bond wheels are manufactured using a variety of metal fillers. Generally, Metal Bond wheels are used with coolant, available with Diamond or CBN.

The main advantages to Metal Bond are:

• Long wheel life
• Reduction in dressing frequency
• Fast stock removal
• Superior form holding capabilities
• Excellent for interrupted grinding applications
• Bonds are extremely strong

Typical applications of metal bond wheels are Creep-feed, Form, Internal, Tool Cutting, Glass and Ceramic grinding.

Polycrystalline diamond blanks compromise of synthetic diamond particles bonded
to a tungsten carbide substrate. PCD is used on non-ferrous materials and
non-metallic applications.

PCD Blanks provide the hardness, abrasion resistance and thermal conductivity of diamond, combined with the toughness of tungsten carbide.

Advantages of PCD Tools:

The tool life of a PCD cutting edge is usually 50 to 250 times greater than that obtained with conventional cemented carbide cutting tools.

Polycrystalline Cubic Nitride (PCBN) Blanks comprise of pure CBN of a blend of CBN
and Ceramics Bonded to a tungsten carbide substrate.
PCBN is used on ferrous material applications.

PCBN blanks provide the hardness, abrasion resistance and thermal conductivity of diamond combined with the toughness of tungsten carbide.

Electroplated products consist of a single layer of diamond or CBN superabrasive particles, which have been bonded to a metal surface in a nickel electroplated bath.
