Cyclones

For many years Dustair Limited has been manufacturing a full range of cyclones from low through to medium up to high efficiency in either single or multiple form for various applications. Commonly nowadays cyclones are used only as pre-filters before filtration equipment in order to reduce loadings, however on some applications cyclone may be suitable as a stand-alone unit. See selection guide for cyclone sizings.

Our full range of cyclones can be manufactured in various material utilizing either mild, galvanized or stainless steel and can be provided either free standing or incorporating additional support steel work. Where necessary they can be provided with either additional after filtration or exhaust fans dependent upon the requirements on site.
Additional equipment for the efficient function of the cyclones including surge bins, dust collection facilities, rotary discharge valves and lagging of the equipment can be provided as and when required.

Where multiple banks of cyclones are required interconnecting ductwork would normally be included within our scope of supply, however if required the cyclones can be supplied individually for assembling into equipment on site. They range of cyclones covers a broad spectrum of efficiencies to match both particle size and the percentage removal required. Efficiency curves can be provided for most of the range together with sizing charts and layout drawings when required.

The three main sizes are based upon low (G type), medium (M type) and high (H type) efficiencies.

Ductwork

Dustair are able to provide any form or size of duct system manufactured in varying grades or forms of materials. This includes flanged, slip jointed and clip together ductwork systems from plastics, galvanised, mild and stainless steel from 1mm up to and beyond 6mm thick. Construction can be in the form of lockformed or welded construction.

Dustair can also undertake to supply all forms of fabrication in thicknesses up to and including 10mm plate. This includes filter cabinets, hoppers, steelwork structures, platforms and walkways, brackets and noise control equipment. The latter includes in-duct silencers and acoustic enclosures in various materials.

Envelope Filters

MODULAR SIZING
The size 50 - 1100 range of envelope filters is designed to cater for the most common dust problems, which usually involve a ducted system. Larger systems utilise a number of units in a modular form, or other types of filter from our range.

To cater for the wide range of air volumes encountered in ducted systems we can offer a variety of fan options. The units can be supplied without fans for multiple banking fan applications. Our engineers are at hand to select the correct fan for your particular requirement.

SPECIALIST FILTER MEDIA
The filtration of the air is achieved by passing it through cloth arranged in a multi-pocket, envelope form. Standard units are supplied with bags manufactured in cotton fabric, however, other media are available for greater efficiency. These include plain needlefelt fabrics, felts with either surface treatments or membranes, or alternatively felts manufactured incorporating epitropic fibres to give antistatic properties.

AUTOMATIC FABRIC CLEANING
Each filter unit is supplied complete with an electro-mechanical shaking device which raps the filter element thoroughly following a delay after the main fan is switched off. This is all dealt with automatically by a control panel supplied free issue with each unit.

ENERGY EFFICIENT FANS
This range of fans from 0.7Kw up to 18.5Kw is designed to give high energy efficiency for the volume being handled, whilst still delivering sufficient external system pressure to cover most of the range of commonly encountered problems. The fan impellors are of a backward inclined, plate type and are mounted direct onto the motor shaft. These are mounted on top of the unit giving easy access for wiring and servicing, and in the event of fire ensures that the motor is outside the air-stream.

SIMPLE DUST DISPOSAL
The unit(s) are manufactured with a valley type hopper to channel the shaken dust into round collection bin(s). Each has a quick release system allowing easy removal after shaking down to allow the bins to be taken away for emptying at intervals.

Bin liners may also be fitted with pressure balance pipes as an option.

ROBUST CONSTRUCTION
The casings of all units are robustly constructed from heavy gauge sheet in welded panel form with stiffening where required. The unit door is of the quick release type to allow easy access.

EASY MAINTENANCE
All of the components are designed for minimal tool use when carrying out maintenance. All of the bearings on the mechanisms are life sealed, limiting the amount of lubrication required. A major advantage of the dustair envelope design is the clean method of bag replacement. As the filter is fixed at the base and shaken from above, all of the hazardous dust is collected inside the bag, meaning clean side access for maintenance and bag changing.

HARD WEARING FINISH
The units are manufactured from Zintec mild steel, which is then primed and top coated, finishing in an 18 E 53 Ral Code Blue. Alternative colour finishes are available.

MULTIPLE OPTIONS

The equipment supplied by Dustair Limited has included complete exhaust systems, extraction hoods and enclosures and the fume arrestment equipment for the various pollutants. This has also included the supply of other technical items of equipment to be included within the exhaust systems, including fire dampers, volume control dampers, pneumatically operated switching dampers, CO2 arrestment systems and pipe work, clean down equipment and other mechanisms for the efficient functioning of the exhaust system.

Reverse Jet Filters

The range of reverse jet filter units are designed to cater for more specialist dust that cannot be handled by the standard shaker type filter systems. Reverse jet/reverse pulse units are normally required where a constant air volume is needed without possibility of the equipment being shut off for cleaning. To achieve this maintenance of the designed air volume at pre-determined intervals a burst of compressed air is released from the reservoir on the unit inducing a shock wave and short back flow of air into the cartridges or bags. This breaks free the dust cake formed on the outer surface of the cartridge or bag, allowing this to then freely fall into the hopper at the base of the unit. This is all controlled automatically with an electrical panel mounted on the unit.

To cater for the wide variation of air volumes encountered in these types of systems we are able to offer a variety of fan options, which can be mounted either directly on the units or at floor level adjacent to the units. Alternatively, the units may be provided without fans for incorporation into either existing systems or fitting with free issue fans. Our engineers are at hand to select the correct fan for your particular requirement when necessary or at anytime for assistance.

Rotary Valves

Designed to discharge sawdust, wood shavings, paper dust and similar low density none abrasive materials from cyclones, shaker and reverse jet filters. The valve body is fabricated from sheet steel and fitted with a 6 blade rotor coupled to a geared motor. The rotor blades are hard wearing nitrile rubber or polyurethane. The valves are built to a standard design or to suit individual applications.

CONSTRUCTION

Actuation of fire dampers can be provided by incorporating the system either into existing fire suppressant equipment on site, or by providing pneumatic, CO2, electronic or mechanical initiation.

On smaller systems the items will usually comprise single blade of multi-leaf type fabricated in either circular or rectangular section to suit the requirements. On larger items of equipment these become multi-leaf and are fitted with suitable linkage to provide easy control/function.

Equipment can be provided to suit various conditions on site including manufacture from corrosion resistant material, galvanizing, epoxy painting or alternative surface treatment. We are able to provide interlocking of the equipment with either electrical/pneumatic systems, ensuring full incorporation into any control systems on site.

Tubular Filters

AUTOMATIC FABRIC CLEANING
The cleaning cycle is carried out by rapping the bags using a geared motor to drive a robust 'rocking tube' system specially designed to induce a vertical snap action and sideways rap to each tube. The system is carried on heavy duty life lubricated bearings mounted on a top frame within the filter casing. The geared drive motor is mounted inside the unit in the top section.

EASY DUST DISPOSAL
Each unit is complete with a valley type hopper(s) to channel the shaken dust into a circular type bin(s) having a quick release system at the base. The bins are released after clean down is complete and taken away for emptying at intervals according to the dust loading.

HARD WEARING FINISH
Each unit is manufactured in Zintec, coated mild steel and etch primed and finished with one coat of blue medium gloss.

ROBUST CONSTRUCTION
The casings of all units are robustly constructed from heavy gauge sheet in welded and bolted panel form with stiffening sections where required. The unit door is of the quick release type to allow easy access for filter changing. Optional access platforms are available for quick access.

Fans of various sizes and types can be supplied for either direct mounting on the unit or remote siting. Units may be manufactured in alternative materials to suit special recommendations. After sales spares and / or maintenance contracts are available to ensure the equipment continues to work effectively in line with C.O.S.H.H. regulations.

Weld Fume Extractors

Dustair are suppliers and distributors of standard weld fume extraction equipment, manufactured by EUROMATE, Holland. This includes multiposition extraction arms, electrostatic and mechanical filters (both mobile and fixed) and centralised filtration systems.

Wet Dust Arrestors

The Dustair wet arrestor is a highly efficient wet scrubber / dust collector made in sizes standard varying from 1,000 cfm to 20,000 cfm and above to suit specific applications.

Standard Hand Desludge Units
The basic operating principle is a simple and yet well proven system utilizing the negative pressure of the fan to induce a water spray through the internal scrolls of the wet collector. The result that this gives is a highly efficient water scrubbing system, but without the inherent problems of pumps, pipework or spray nozzles. This means that the unit is relatively self cleaning on many dusts and requires very little maintenance. The system is also very simply engineered to provide good facilities and access for any maintenance and cleaning arrangements that may be required. The scrubber cleans the air by driving the dust laden atmosphere into a plenum chamber, then forcing it at high velocity through narrow slots. This picks up water through heavy turbulence created at the narrow scroll orifice. Additional centrifugal force is then applied to the air path to induce constant wetting of the dust before this is finally trapped and thrown back to the clean side of the filter for settling. The efficiency of the system is maintained by a water levelling device which requires very simple setting initially and then no further modification is required.

Principle of scrubbing within wet collector units (click here for diagram)

On filling from the standing, the system automatically levels to the correct point. On initiating start up, dynamic levelling is achieved automatically and then maintained by either a trickle overflow or an electrical probe system. This retains high performance with a very small loss of water, estimated to be approximately 8 litres per hour per 5000cfm however the final amount is dependent upon specific system conditions . The water level box is situated externally on the end casing of the unit and is provided with a sight glass for viewing of the level. This gives the operator a clear indication of the performance of the unit and it is very simple to determine the volume of water required to make up after a short time of commissioning. The standard units are manufactured from heavy gauge steel with sufficient stiffening to overcome the system pressure required on the arduous duties often encountered with wet collection applications. However a budget range is manufactured for less arduous applications but still retaining the standard scroll form and hence efficiency for a much reduced cost.

BUDGET UNIT
The specially designed scrolls are constructed such that they can be removed for replacement when required. In the top section of this collector water elimination banks are provided in order to prevent any carry over of moisture to atmosphere. However, we do recommend that these units are fitted outside the building or, alternatively, vented to atmosphere since the discharge is always moist.

OPTIONS
1. Freeze up prevention heaters for outside use, with thermostat control.
2. Explosion doors, anti-spark fans and automatic water level controls for explosive dusts.
3. Optional fan set to suit customers requirements.
4. Special paint finishes or materials of construction etc., for corrosive applications.
