Electrical Testing South West
We undertake all aspects of electrical testing in the South West of England. The IEE Wiring Regulations require every electrical installation to be inspected and tested during construction and upon completion. This requirement also applies to alterations or additions that includes new circuits.
We can provide an independent electrical testing in the South West inspection, test and certification of new installations including a first fix inspection to ensure the installation meets BS7671 and appropriate Building Regulations relevant to electrical work.
Electrical Installation South West
We provide comprehensive electrical installation in the South West design and installation services for all forms of electrical work. We provide bespoke electrical installation packages to our clients to care for all remedial and new electrical installations.
Within our electrical installation in the South West, we provide as standard an accurate and unbiased report on the condition and safety of their electrical systems. We will from the reports recommend remedial works that should be carried out to keep the electrical systems safe and in compliance with the current regulations.
Whether you require small remedial work to your existing systems or a full strip out and the design of a new electrical distribution system for a complete building, we are ready to provide for and cover all your electrical installation needs.
Electrical Inspection South West
A periodic inspection is an electrical inspection on the condition of an existing electrical installation to identify any deficiencies. We are able to provide electrical inspection in the South West so please contact us for your inspection service.
Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and age. It is important for the person responsible for the maintenance of the installation to be sure that the safety of users is not put at risk.
If you are looking for an electrical inspection in the South West, we can provide that service.
It is recommended that periodic inspection and testing is carried out at least every:
- Commercial properties 5 years. This can be 100% every 5 years or broken down to 20% every year. Using this method ensures that the installation is checked once a year for faults.
- Domestic properties 10 years.
We will check the electrical installation against the requirements of BS 7671 - Requirements for Electrical Installations ( IEE Wiring Regulations ) - as amended, which is the national safety standard for electrical installations.
The periodic inspection will take into account all relevant circumstances including the following factors:
- Adequacy of earthing and bonding
- Suitability of the switchgear and control gear
- Serviceability of equipment
- Type of wiring system and its condition
- Provision of residual current devices for socket-outlets that may be used to plug in electrical equipment used outdoors
- Presence of adequate identification and notices
- Extent of any wear and tear, damage or other deterioration
- Changes in use of the premises which have to lead to, or might lead to, deficiencies in the installation.
We provide a periodic inspection report (PIR) as part of the periodic inspection. A period inspection report (PIR) is a formal method of recording the findings of the periodic inspection.
The main purpose of a PIR is to report on the safety condition of an existing installation. It should describe the overall condition as either 'satisfactory', in which case no immediate remedial work is required, or 'unsatisfactory' which means remedial work is required to make the installation safe to use.
Where a PIR describes the installation as 'unsatisfactory', the next thing to look at is 'Observations and Recommendations for Actions to be taken'. This is where any departures from BS 7671 are recorded, and a code to indicate the urgency of the action needed is given. These codes are ranged from 1- 4 with 1 being the most serious.
Portable Appliance Testing South West
What is Portable Appliance Testing? (PAT). The ‘Inspection and Testing of In-Service Electrical Equipment’ came into existence to help organisations and companies to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
To meet these regulations it is necessary to have in place a record of Inspection and Electrical Safety Testing of portable appliances.
The portable appliance testing in the South West is carried in three stages:
- Visual Inspection - the condition of the cable, appliance, fuse rating, and plug head
- Electrical Test - earth continuity test, insulation test and functional test
- Remedial Action - minor faults found during the inspection and test can be repaired on site with the appliance being re-tested to ensure it passes.
Examples of these are replacement of correct rated fuses for the appliance, replacement of plug tops and replacement of the flexible cord. More serious faults will always be quoted first prior to commencement. If you are looking to get your equipment in line with the portable appliance testing in the South West then we can help.
Thermo Graphic Surveys South West
Are you looking for quality and reliable thermo graphic surveys in the South West region? An increasing number of commercial and industrial properties are now being asked for a thermo graphic survey to comply with their insurance policy requirements. It can be used in with a traditional electrical inspection and test report to give you the full picture of your electrical installation.
Thermal imaging is a non-contact technology that can measure the infrared wavelengths to determine temperatures from a safe distance. This makes it quick and easy to visually check surface temperature and to help identify hot spots. These often indicate that a problem exists. If you have a problem and you would like to know more about our thermo graphic surveys in the South West then please contact us and we will help.
Applications include switch gear, distribution panels, main panels, controls, busbar systems, fuses, and cabling. As well as saving money on maintenance and testing we are able to spot overloaded and dangerous connections not noticeable to the human eye before they become a problem.
- On-site surveying
- Non contact testing
- You will not have to shut down any equipment during testing. We do not require physical contact with any components (in fact equipment has to be energized to test)
All test reports are produced in full colour with explanations of the test under taken and remedial actions to be taken if required. The report can be issued in paper format, as a PDF or on CD-ROM.
Emergency Lighting Testing South West
Are you looking for emergency lighting testing in the South West? Emergency lighting is a legal requirement in all premises where people are employed. It is essential and is required to guide the occupants in the event of an emergency for example in the result of power failure or fire safely out of the building to designated meeting points.
It is not only the lighting that is needed but also the right signage.
It is a mandatory requirement to comply with the following:
- BS 5266-1:2005 Code of practice for the emergency lighting of premises
- The Building Regulations 2000
- The Fire Precautions (workplace) regulations 1997
- The Health And Safety (Safety Signs And Signals) Regulations 1996
The emergency lighting system installed in your premises requires to be inspected and tested at the following intervals: daily, monthly, six monthly and annually. We offer the inspection and testing for the six monthly and annual periods. This test is carried out for the full rated duration of your emergency lighting, normally three hours.
During this test we ensure the correct operation of the emergency lighting system, the correct location of the fittings and the correct signage is in place. It is normal practice for the daily and monthly tests to be carried out by your in house maintenance staff.
To ensure that the exit signs are of correct format and size, Section 4.1 of BS5266 Pt 7 states that “Signs which are provided at all exits intended to be used in an emergency and along escape routes shall be illuminated to indicate unambiguously the route of escape to a point of safety”. Where direct sight of an emergency exit is not possible, an illuminated directional sign (or series of signs) shall be provided to assist progression towards the emergency exit.
On completion of the test period a full detailed report will be supplied to you with any remedial costs as required to ensure that the emergency lighting system is fully maintained and working.
During the Inspection and test all emergency lighting fittings will be labelled to help in identification with the full detailed report and Certification. This will be provided on paper format and on CD ROM in PDF format for ease of storage. If you are looking for more information on emergency lighting testing in the South West do not hesitate to contact us for more detailed information.
Load Testing South West
Are you looking for load testing in the South West? With more and more sophisticated distribution systems now being installed within premises into the electrical systems increased demand is being placed on this original cabling.
This can create over loaded circuits which can over heat with a possible fire risk. This can also cause possible spikes or surges in the supply which can cause circuit breakers to trip meaning loss of trading.
We use specialist testing engineers and up to date equipment to provide you with a full detailed report and analysis on your electrical system.
With this report we detail recommendations and remedial works for your load testing in the South West area if required to ensure that your electrical system is balanced correctly and not over loaded in anyway.
The report can be issued in paper format, as a PDF or on CD-ROM.
Electrical Testing Bristol
We have been involved in electrical testing in Bristol. It was requested for all the electrical services to be inspected and tested. All lighting, power and plant room systems were identified, tested and labelled for future use.
The client requested that all major electrical faults were rectified as soon as identified and the remainder were quoted. Overall the project was completed within three working weeks, ensuring very little disruption, if any, affected the company and its working day.
Overall the electrical testing in Bristol resulted in the being highly impressed and as such a further two contracts have been awarded, a testament to the capabilities of Daltech Electrical Testing.
Electrical Testing Staines
We were involved in a specific electrical testing in Staines project where the client requested an Inspection and testing programme. We designed this programme to complete 100 percent for all sub mains and 20 percent of the electrical system (light and power) each year.
This ensured that each distribution board was inspected every year and that they had an independent report on their property separate from the maintenance regime in place.
Our electrical testing in Staines case study client was involved at all times to ensure minimal disruption during the two week period each year.
Electrical Testing Wokingham
We had a specific electrical testing in Wokingham. This involved close corporation with all the tenants throughout the building to keep power disruption to a minimum.
All the electrical cabling to each tenant's distribution boards required to be tested which was carried out during non trading periods. All the tenants and the property management company praised Daltech Electrical Testing for their hard work during this period.
As a result of our electrical testing in Wokingham project, contracts were awarded to carry out all the testing within the building and on a further three sites.
