We have an extensive range of water soluble soap dyes ideal for colouring soap. Due to alkaline conditions, there are a limited number of soap dyes usable in cold process soap manufacture, but our array of soap dyes can be used in all soap base, melt and pour, applications.

FastColours specialises and provide dyes in small lots. We were established in order to help individuals and companies to source dyes and avoid many of the issues related to their current suppliers.

We aim to solve these issues and offer dyes in lots of 1, 2 or 5 Kg. Fastcolours provide dyes packed in re-sealable containers and in granular form in order to prevent the issues of cross contamination.

Water soluble dyes are suitable for a diversity of aqueous applications like liquid detergents, soaps and washing-up liquids. Water soluble dyes have a variety of solubility dependent on the dye and the application it is used with.

We can help you to find the correct dye for your requirements and show you the correct method for getting the dye into the solution. Do remember you can also mix dyes to get an even greater range of colours and shades.

Our oil and wax soluble dyes have good solubility in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and paraffin. They can be used in oil lamps, shoe polishes, candles, oily insecticides, and wood preservatives.

Oil and wax soluble dyes will dissolve differently depending on the solvent but are all insoluble in water. We have many samples available and the prices of these are refunded if you buy more of the same dye.

Food dyes can be used in a range of applications suited to the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, detergent, and food sector. The majority of our food dyes are supplied in granular form, making them easy to handle and easily dissolved in water. You can mix food dyes to produce a greater array of colours and are concentrated so a little can go a long way.

Cosmetic dyes - restriction of use are covered in UK statutory regulations and the four areas of application described are:

• Colouring agents allowed in all cosmetic products
• Colouring agents allowed in all cosmetic products except those intended to be applied in the vicinity of the eyes, in particular eye make-up and eye make-up remover
• Colouring agents allowed exclusively in cosmetic products except cosmetic products intended to come into contact with mucous membranes
• Colouring agents allowed exclusively in cosmetic products intended to come into contact only briefly with the skin

Want to know how to dissolve dyes? The best way, using water soluble dyes, is to make a solution. Be careful, dyes can be messy and we recommend you use disposable gloves, wear goggles and only carry out work in a suitable area.

To make a solution you will need to:

• Weigh out the required quantity of dye
• Make a paste using cold water
• Add hot water to this paste whilst stirring
• Continue to stir until the dye is dissolved
• Allow to cool
• The dye is now ready to use
