Power Transmission Couplings

JBJ Techniques Limited provides probably the widest range of power transmission couplings available within the UK. Our range includes miniature couplings, all steel gear couplings, flexible spider couplings, shaft couplings, torque limiting couplings, disc and grid type couplings, ATEX compliant, and shaft locking devices.

There are various criteria in specifying the most suitable coupling for your application but we will guide you all the way to obtain the right power transmission couplings.

JXL torsionally resilient, anti-static couplings, of pin and bush design, comprise of two fully machined steel flanges coupled via a series of drive pins and hytrel flexible elements. The elements have the ability to absorb shock loads and dampen vibration.

The couplings do not produce static and do not sustain burning. Maximum shaft diameters up to 400mm with torques of 300,000Nm and speeds up to 11,000rpm can be accommodated.

All our couplings are ATEX certificated to directive 94/9/EC II2GD-IM2-T6 requirements, harmonised standards EN13463-4, EN13463-5, EN50303, and EN13463-1.

Coupling Element Size Selection Chart

Our coupling element size selection chart is ideal for selecting spider and gear coupling elements. Whether you are unsure of specific size, or if original element is beyond recognition after hard service life, this useful chart will assist in specifying the correct sized element. Customers have even successfully sized coupling elements from just a quarter piece left from their original coupling.

Bellhousings

JBJ Techniques Ltd manufacture and supply the most comprehensive range of bellhousings in Europe, for use with Imperial or Nema standard electric, petrol, diesel, and air motors. They are manufactured in aluminium, grey cast iron or SG iron to suit a variety of environments. Bellhousings made from cast iron and SG iron materials are specifically designed for the most aggressive of environments.

Meeting all European and worldwide standards such as VDMA, ATEX, bellhousings are also tailored to suit each individual drive and we have the ability to connect electric motors with frame sizes from D56 to D400L and to any given pump type without misalignment. Available in aluminium, for general industrial power transmission applications, an additional range of noise reduction equipment exists for noise and vibration sensitive applications. A complete range of equipment also exists to allow the connection of diesel, petrol and air motors to any driven component.

The cast iron range of bellhousings, prefix GG is also available in high strength (SG) iron, prefix GGG, and in addition we produce this range to suit NEMA motor flange dimensions, without the use of adaptor plates. These bellhousings are a one-piece component founded in the UK with minimal (trace) aluminium, magnesium, titanium, and zirconium content. The bellhousings have been subject to a 20 Joule impact test with no damage noted. Also, if required, the housings can be supplied with full chemical analysis and test bars.

DC Power Units and Mini Power Packs

Custom DC power units and mini power packs are designed to achieve optimum electro-mechanical and hydraulic performance for an extensive range of mobile and static applications. DC motor and multiple pump applications are a focused area of our expertise.

DC power systems are self contained modular power pack systems with a wide range of standard pumps, motors, switches, mountings, valves, and reservoirs plus custom options. Short series of custom power packs, available fully assembled or in kit form, are easily built and cost effective.

The HE power pack is based on a versatile platform allowing you to combine 80 - 134 mm motors (0.3 - 4.5 kW) with a variety of pumps (0.24 - 5.7 cc/rev). A unit can individually control up to four hydraulic cylinders and the core of the system consists of two different adaptors with alternative shapes and variable assembly direction. We are also the UK's distributors of Haldex / Concentric hydraulic components.

High Pressure And Low Pressure Hydraulic Power

We can help you achieve high pressure from low pressure hydraulic power sources. This is advantageous where space is of a premium in existing or new hydraulic circuits.

These hydraulic pressure intensifiers are reciprocating and automatically increase a supplied pressure to a higher end pressure. Pilot operated check valves can be built in to allow high pressure side to be relieved through the intensifier.

See the JBJ Techniques website for more information.

Hydraulic Vane Pumps

Versatility, power, compactness and low running costs are the main characteristics of our hydraulic vane pumps. All the components subject to wear are contained in a cartridge unit easily removed for inspection and replacement without disconnecting the pump from the circuit. This drastically reduces expensive machine down time.

The cartridge contains a rotor, vanes and inserts, a cam ring, and two covers. During operation the rotor is driven by a splined shaft coupled to the drive unit. As the rotation speed increases, centrifugal forces, in combination with the pressure generated behind the vanes, push the vanes outwards, where they follow the profile of the cam of the ring with a sufficient contact pressure to ensure adequate hydraulic sealing.

The two opposed pumping chambers formed by the elliptical profile of the cam cancel out radial loads on the shaft bearings, thereby giving them extremely long lifetimes.

The versatility of these hydraulic vane pumps enables them to meet the requirements of the most varied industrial
applications. As well as their proven high reliability and excellent volumetric efficiency in all working conditions they operate with particularly low noise levels. This is made possible by the special profile of the cam ring and the use of a 12 vane rotor to reduce the amplitude of the supply pressure pulses, thereby reducing induced vibrations.

ATEX Certificated To Directive 94/9/EC Requirements

Our range of ATEX certificated to directive 94/9/EC requirements products is constantly growing. We also have products with CE type certificate INERIS 02ATEX0094X. We have a comprehensive range of accessories for use within many areas of industry. Our products, such as flywheel couplings, are manufactured to directive 94/9/EC II2GD-IM2-T6 and harmonised standards EN13463-4, EN13463-5, EN50303, and EN13463-1. Products such as screw pumps are ATEX approved for use in explosive atmospheres and are Zones 0 & 1 and API 676 compliant. Terminal boxes used on the JBJ range of hazardous area float switches and thermostat TRI types have also been ATEX certificated at source by the manufacturer in accordance with the requirements specified within directive 94/9/EC.

Our 94/9/EC ATEX directive is in accordance with the following types of protection and ambient temperature standards:
