Wire rope consists of 3 basic components:

• Wires that form the strand
• Multi-wire strands laid helically around a core
• The core

Wire for rope is made in several materials, and types, these include steel and stainless steel, with wire or fibre cores. This is available in a variety of grades of steel, stainless steel and galvanised.

Mainco make sure all ends are cut neat and clean, with no burrs or deformed wires. The wire lengths are cut with consistent accuracy, which saves time in the assembly process ensuring the finished item is well within tolerance.

Wire rope slings are most commonly measured from the bearing point. Slings can also be measure from the centres i.e. for use with pin or bolt.
