Our precision gears range from instrument gears of less than 2mm up to power transmission gears of 400mm in diameter.

Spur Gears
The teeth on spur gears are cut parallel to the axis.
Bevel Gears
We are able to manufacture two types of straight cut bevel gears. The two systems are briefly explained below and if you would like to know more about bevel gears then contact us:
- Gleason System Bevel Gear - These types of bevel gears manufactured to the Gleason system are generally used within the aircraft, aerospace and defence industries
- Mikron System Bevel Gear -bevel gears manufactured to the Mikron system are usually of finer pitch, and are used for transmitting motion rather than power
Gear Hobbing
We use state of the art gear hobbing machinery to cut our gears. Our gears are manufactured to the highest British and International standards possible so you can trust us for a quality service.
Our gear hobbing operatives are very highly skilled with many years experience and knowledge in the gear hobbing sector of manufacturing.
Helical Gears
We manufacture and produce helical gears. The teeth on helical gears are made at an angle to the face of the gear. This type of engineering increases the strength of the teeth because of the elongated helical wrap around. When two teeth on a helical gear system engage, the contact starts at one end of the tooth and gradually spreads as the gears rotate, until the two teeth are in full engagement.
This gradual engagement makes helical gears operate very quietly and smoothly than spur gears operate. Due to these attributes, helical gears are used in the transmissions of automobiles.
Worms and Wormwheels
Worms and wormwheels systems are simple designs that are basically a crossed-axle helical gear system. This system however has a drive wheel with a maximum of up to 6 teeth.
We are able to manufacture bespoke worms and wormwheels. They are produced to your exact specifications and to the highest quality possible.
Sprockets for Chains/Toothed Pulleys for Belt Drives
We manufacture and produce sprockets for chains and toothed pulleys for belt drives. Our products are manufactured to the highest quality and standards.
Below are the product descriptions for our sprockets for chains and toothed pulleys for belt drives:
- Sprockets - sprockets engage chains in many different power transmission and conveyor systems. Sprockets and chains are often an economic, reliable drive system for long running, continuous drive applications with limited shock and torque loads
- Toothed Pulleys - the function of a belt drive is essentially influenced by the quality of the toothed pulley. Toothed pulleys are precision components and are produced with milling cutters to pitch so that a meshing of teeth is obtained
Splines
There are two major types of splines used in industry, straight sided splines and involute splines.
A brief explanation of the two types of splines:
- Straight sided splines - straight sided splines are an established standard for many applications within the machine and automotive industries.
- Involute splines - involute splines have greater strength and can cut any number of teeth resulting in a more cost-effective production method.
Serrations
There are two major types of serrations used in industry: straight sided serrations and involute serrations.
Straight sided serrations, manufactured to a 90 degree form and are produced on English shaft sizes ranging from 1/4" to 6" diameter, are used for closer fits than involute splines. Involute serrations are involute splines with a higher pressure angle.
Broaching & Shaping
We are able to offer a broaching and shaping service.
- Broaching - Broaching allows the speedy formation of internal splines and can be an economic alternative to shaping. Broaching produces an accurate well finished form on runs of many thousands.
- Shaping - Shaping with the Mikron 134 produces splines on smaller parts, while our range of Sykes machinery is generally used on larger components.

We are able to provide a CNC turning service designed to meet your demands. Computer numerical control or CNC is a versatile system that allows you to control the motion of tools and parts through computer programs that use numeric data.
We are dedicated to producing precision components, using the highest quality CNC turning centres.
We have the CNC turning capability to produce parts from 0.125" to 2.5" diameter in bar form, and up to 9.0" diameter in billet configurations.
