Special Pins

In support of our standard programme, we also have a manufacturing facility for special parts, which extends well beyond special pins and spacers.

Most of our special pins and turned parts are made on CNC machines to obtain high precision and an excellent surface finish. We specialise in Stainless, but also produce in other materials.

We provide rapid written quotes and aim to deliver within two weeks.

We can supply material certification and maintain production records for complete traceability.

Please contact our sales team for a quote, or e-mail sales@technifast.co.uk for more information.

Dowel Pins and Extractable Dowel

Dowels are solid pins, usually precision ground to narrow limits to permit accurate fitting.  Precision dowels are traditionally used to hold parts together in a fixed alignment relying on the tightness of fit to stay in place. However, some applications for solid pins require clearance or transition fits on at least one of the components to be fastened.

Technifast are able to supply solid dowel pins and extractable pins in metric and imperial sizes to the following standards: -

ISO 2338, ISO 8734, ISO 8735, DIN 7, DIN 6325, DIN 7979, BS 1804

and in material grades: -

Through Hardened Steel, Mild Steel, Unhardened, Stainless A2, Stainless A4

Taper Pins

Taper Pins

Our standard range of plain taper pins are made to DIN 1B, and we also offer extractable taper pins to DIN 7977 and DIN 7978

Avaliable in material grades:-

Mild Steel, Unhardened, Stainless A2, Stainless A4

Grooved Pins

Grooved Pins are solid pins with three swaged grooves at 120º pitch along all or part of their length.

The various types of grooved pins we stock are: -

DIN 1471 (GP1), similar to ISO 8744; Full length taper groove pin, used to fix two ore more components together, but with less insertion force than DIN 1473
DIN 1472 (GP2), similar to ISO 8745; Half length taper groove pin used where part of the assembly must be a free fit
DIN 1473 (GP3), similar to ISO 8740; Full length parallel groove pin used to fix two or more components together with maximum rigidity
DIN 1474 (GP4), similar to ISO 8741; Half length reverse taper groove pin used where the ungrooved portion acts as a stop or handle
DIN 1475 (GP8), similar to ISO 8742; Third length centre groove pin used on hinges or clevises where the two ends must act as pivots

and are generally available in: -

Mild Steel, Unhardened, Stainless A2

Slotted Spring Pins (Spring Tension Pins)

Slotted Spring Pins consist of a single coil of spring steel (or stainless steel) with an open slot sufficiently wide to enable the pin to reduce in diameter as it is driven in a hole of appropriate size.

As standard, they are normally supplied in the heavy duty form, but a light duty version is also available.

Slotted Pins are made to the following standards: -

ISO 8752; Heavy Duty (stocked)
ISO 13337; Light Duty
JIS B 2808; Equivalent to ISO 8752 but with reduced expanded diameter for easier assembly (stocked in some sizes)

DIN 1481; Equivalent to ISO 8752 but with plus only length tolerances
DIN 7346; Light Duty

BS 7060; Equivalent to ISO 8752

and are available in: -

Spring Steel - CS 70 / AISI 1070 / C67
Stainless A2 - AISI 304

Coiled Spring Pins

Coiled Spring Pins, from PRYM-Inovan, consist of 2 1/4 coils of spring steel or stainless steel and have swaged chamfers at each end.  They are designed for plain drilled holes, but countersinking makes insertion easier.

There are two strength duties available.  Standard duty is preferred for most applications, but heavy duty is recommended for applications in hardened steel components where maximum shear strength is essential.
Coiled Pins are made to the following standards: -

ISO 8750; Standard Duty (stocked)
ISO 8748; Heavy Duty (stocked)
ISO 8751; Light Duty

and are available in: -

Spring Steel - CS 67 / DIN 17222, hardened and tempered to HV 420-520, Stainless A2

Split Cotter Pins

Split Cotter Pins are stocked by Technifast in diameter 1 to 13mm in mild steel (usually zinc plated), stainless A4 and brass.

Due to the loose fit required for Cotter Pins, the metric range doubles for inch sizes

Cotter Pins are made to the following standards: -

DIN 94

and are available in: -

Mild Steel, Stainless A4, Brass

Retaining Pins

Retaining Pins

Retaining Pins are stock in two designs - the single coil for most applications and the double coil for the more demanding use.

They are made in zinc plated, spring steel, and stainless

Clevis Pins

Clevis Pins

We stock Clevis Pins to ISO 2341 from B. which has a cross drilled hole intended for use with a cotter pin or retaining pin, other standards can be made to order.

avaliable in material grade

Mild Steel, Bright Zinc Plated, Stainless A2, Stainless A4

Linch Pins and Shaft Locking Pins

Linch Pins and Shaft Locking Pins

These fasteners are in mild steel, with spring steel clips and are finished in zinc with a yellow chromate

Clearance Spacers

Spacers are normally used to allow two parts of an assembly to be fastened together at a controlled distance from each other.

Clearance spacers, which are fastened with a nut and bolt, have an inside diameter slightly larger than the bolt diameter.

We have a wide range of clearance spacers available: -

Closed-Seam Rolled Spacers; available in mild steel, zinc plated
Turned Spacers; available in zinc plated mild steel, nickel plated brass and stainless A2
Moulded Spacers; available in nylon

Threaded Spacers

Threaded Spacers are used to enable a screw to fasten it into place due to the inside of the spacer being tapped.

We also stock computer connectors with 4.40 UNC threads.

Threaded Spacers and Pillars are available in the following types: -

Hexagonal, Female/Female Spacers; available in mild steel, zinc plated / brass, nickel plated / stainless A2
Hexagonal, Male/Female Spacers; available in mild steel, zinc plated / brass, nickle plated / stainless A2
Round Threaded Spacers; available in mild steel, zinc plated / stainless A2

Expansion Inserts

Expansion Inserts are an easy to assemble alternative to other types where a durable thread is required, but the high pull-out resistance of a self-tapping or heat/ultrasonic is not essential.

They are placed, by hand, into a hole of specified dimensions and it is the action of the screw on final assembly which locks the insert into place.

Expansion Inserts are available in a parallel (Series 81) and headed (Series 82) version and are stocked in brass

Threaded Inserts

Threaded Inserts

Threaded Inserts are used in plastics, wood and non ferrous metals to provide a thread that is stronger than would be possible by inserting a self tapping screw directly into the material

Parallel Keys

Parallel Keys

Parallel Keys are stocked in C45k key steel and stainless steel grade A4

Parallel Keys are made to the following standards:-

DIN 6885 A, DIN 6885 B and DIN 6885 AB

Woodruff Keys

Woodruff Keys are stocked in C45k key steel, with a minimum tensile strength of 60Kg/mm².  Stainless Steel grade A4 is available to order.

Woodruff Keys are made to the following standard: -

DIN 6888 / ISO 3912 (metric), BS 46 Part 1 (imperial)

Gib Head Keys

Gib-Head Keys are available in metric and inch sizes. Metric sizes are made to DIN 6887 / ISO 2492 and Inch sizes are made to BS 46 Part 1. They are made in key steel, with a minimum tensile strength of 55Kg/mm² or stainless (to order).

Gib Head Keys are made to the following standard: -

DIN 6887 / ISO 2492 (metric), BS 46 Part 1 (imperial)
