Threadlocking
Loctite threadlocker is a reliable way to prevent the release or loosening of thread joints due to mechanical vibrations or environmental factors such as corrosion and temperature fluctuations. Loctite threadlocker is suitable for a range of applications.
Key characteristics of threadlockers:
- Single-component
- Clean and easy to apply
- Resists vibration
- Locks and seals all threads
-
Reduces inventory costs
The main criteria in choosing the right threadlocker out of Loctite`s wide range are the material (plastic or metal), diameter and thread length of the screws or stud bolts used, as well as their strength class. Many Loctite products are universally applicable for a range of thread sizes.
Benefit of a liquid threadlocker
The threadlocker from Loctite functions by curing in the absence of air. Compared to mechanical locking elements, Loctite solutions have the advantage of a low cost per unit and efficient storage, supply, maintenance and repair. Product life is also extended thanks to the secure seal. Liquid threadlocker are particularly secure as the clamping force is retained, resulting in a high breakaway torque.
Thread Sealing
The Loctite products used for pipe sealing need to be particularly reliable in order to prevent the escape of gases and fluids.
Anyone who needs professional products to seal pipes, joints and other pipe sealing applications will find the perfect solution for every job and material with Loctite.
Seal with pipe sealing cord
Loctite 55 can be used to replace hemp, pastes or PTFE tape. The all-purpose seal, specially developed for pipe sealing, is simply wound onto the pipe thread directly from the dispenser. Loctite 55 is used as a seal for metal and plastic tapered threads for industrial applications with aqueous and non-aqueous fluids. Loctite 55 is clean and easy to work with and is particularly fast and cost-efficient.
Characteristics of an anaerobic seal with Loctite
Anaerobic materials for pipe sealing harden to insoluble plastic fillings and provide protection from leaks. With this type of pipe sealing, anaerobic single-component fillers fill the microscopically small gaps between the interlocking threads and polymerise to a tough solid on contact with metal when air is excluded.
Loctite offers products especially for use with metal and stainless steel
Gasketing
Sealant for Gasketing
Gasketing is a sealant between two flanges assembled with screws. The sealant completely fills the space between the flange surfaces, thereby preventing the escape of gaseous or fluid materials in composite machine parts or pipe connections.
Loctite provides sealant products in a range of varieties for this specific application. Slow-curing connections are possible, as is high-strength or highly flexible anaerobic gasketing.
Requirements of the sealant
With gasketing, it is particularly important that the sealant remains intact and leak-proof over the entire life of the connection.
Your Benefits
- Single-component
- Fills all voids – no fine surface finish needed
- No shimming – no need for re-torquing
- Excellent instant seal

Retaining
Retaining
Loctite Retaining Compounds secure bearings, bushes and cylindrical parts into housings or onto shafts. They achieve maximum load transmission capability and uniform stress distribution and eliminate fretting corrosion. Applied as a liquid, they form a 100 % contact between mating metal surfaces, eliminating the need for expensive replacement parts, time consuming machining or the use of mechanical methods.
Advantages of Loctite Retaining Compounds as compared to conventional assembly methods:
- High-strength products can carry high loads
- Fill all voids to prevent corrosion and fretting
- 100 % contact – load and stress is distributed evenly over the joint
Loctite Retaining Compounds fill the inner space between components and cure to form a strong precision assembly.

Structural Bonding - Silicones
Structural Bonding - Silicones
- Simplifies construction by increasing strength/rigidity to withstand dynamic loads
- Prevents material fatigue and failure by achieving uniform transmission of the load (stress distribution) and by maintaining the structural integrity (no thermal or mechanical weakening of parts)
- Saves production costs by replacing conventional mechanical fasteners (screws, rivets or welding) Allows the most varied substrate combinations, e.g. metal/plastics, metal/glass, metal/wood etc.
- Reduces and/or compensates stress caused by differential thermal expansion of joint substrates
Silicone adhesives are selected mainly for their capability to elastically absorb and/or compensate dynamic stresses, in addition to the load transmission properties of the adhesive assembly. Besides their elastic properties, many elastic adhesives from Henkel exhibit a high inherent strength (cohesion) and a relatively high modulus, achieving friction-locked joints which, at the same time, have elastic properties.
