C Series Sackplacer
Suitable for small to medium size sacks & bags, it has a small bore vacuum system for smooth, fast and reliable operation on a wide variety of sack materials. A sack is lifted from the pile by a suction arm, opened and held by a pair of blades, these blades then transfer the empty sack to a sack clamp so that it can be filled with product as part of a bagging system.
Packing speeds depend on many factors such as weigher speed, filling time, conveyor speed etc. Typical speed for the C-Series is 600 sacks per hour or 10 bags per minute. However speeds of 720 bags per hour or 12 bags per minute are possible. This is an ideal product to use in conjunction with the Total Bag Control system.
Options include sack tail separator for problematic bags, mobile base frames, multi pile sack magazine conveyor for continuous operation, remote diagnostics & support and print & apply label applicators to identify sacks.
T Series Sackplacer
Suitable for medium to large size sacks & bags, it has a large bore, high air flow vacuum system for picking up all manner of sack types including woven polypropylene. A sack is lifted from the pile by a suction arm and indexed forward to a precise point, ready for opening. This opening point is controlled by a programmable sensor for accurate positioning. Two sets of suction cups then open the bag allowing the swing arm blades to enter and grip the bag. The swing arms then rotate up to the sack clamp so that the sack can be held and filled with product as part of a bagging system.
Packing speeds depend on many factors such as weigher speed, filling time, conveyor speed etc. Typical speed for the T-Series is 10-12 bags per minute. However speeds of 14 bags per minute are possible. This is an ideal product to use in conjunction with the Total Bag Control system.
Options include sack tail separator for problematic bags, mobile base frames, multi pile sack magazine conveyor for continuous operation, remote diagnostics & support and print & apply label applicators to identify sacks.
Sealing Systems
Operation
Floor or Conveyor mounted robust steel frames that are available with or without height adjustment, supporting a modern stitcher, heat sealer or presenter. Pacepacker Services normally supply Fischbein or Newlong Sewing Heads and Fischbein Saxon or OK Heat Sealers, although we have worked with many others besides. Units can be incorporated into your existing Pacepacker system or as a stand-alone unit to position over a conveyor.
Control System
Stand-alone systems are supplied with a control panel containing a PLC which links to an infeed sensor to control start/stop times. Fischbein Saxon and OK Heat Sealers are supplied with a bare lead for connecting to your own supply and are available in 3 Phase or Single Phase.
Conveyors & Packing Speeds
Systems work with almost any leg mounted conveyor and sealing speeds are matched as required or can be adjustable via Inverters.
Stitcher Feeder
The Stitcher Feeder can be bolted to the infeed of most stitchers to make them operate fully automatically. Guide boards fitted to the stitcher conveyor accurately position filled sacks approaching the feeder. The feeder arm enters the sack top and pulls it into a toothed feed belt, which shapes and feeds it to the stitcher. The Stitcher Feeder bolts directly onto some stitcher pedestals, others require adaption plates.
Most rigid sacks are suitable providing the tops stand open and there is approximately 200mm of ullage(distance from the product in the bag to the top of the sack).
Ticket Dispenser
As an addition, a Single or Double Ticket Dispenser can be supplied with a Stitcher to automatically apply one or two tickets. The Double Ticket Dispenser can be used to apply single tickets if required. As standard, dispensers are fitted with a tray for fanfold tickets, but a free running turntable for rolls of tickets can be fitted instead should this be required.
Tickets should be made of stout paper or thin card and have an 8mm hole punched at the joint centre. Ticket rolls must not exceed 200mm diameter. Ticket height can range between 30-140mm, ticket width (pitch between perforated joints) can range between 75 - 150mm.
Top Form Sack Feeder
An approaching sack operates the Topforms automatic cycle. Two blades enter the sack, the leading blade accurately positions the top of the sack and the trailing blade stretches the sack to the required width. The sack is then fed forward into the sealer or stitcher at the same speed as the conveyor. This action gives very precise presentation with minimal setting up time.
The fast speed of the Topform is achieved by the blades moving with the sack then returning at high speed to pick up the next one, up to 15 Sacks per minute are possible.
Total Bag Control System
Robust construction with stainless steel contact parts gives smooth, fast and reliable sack conveying and closing prior to sealing by stitcher or heat sealer. A sack is placed on a sack clamp, either manually, or by a sackplacer, a pair of fingers then either stretch or reform the gussets of the bag.
A pair of motorised Grip Arms then move around the bag and as it drops from the clamp, they close on the bag, holding it in its formed state. These arms then motor toward the sealer, releasing the bag into a twin belt feeder. Even very unstable products can be accommodated with ease as the bag top is held at all times prior to sealing, hence TBC – Total Bag Control.
Packing speeds depend on many factors such as weigher speed, filling time, conveyor speed etc. Typical speed for the TBC is 10 bags per minute, however speeds of 15 bags per minute are possible.
Pinch Bottom Sealer
The Pacepacker Pinch Bottom Heat Sealer is designed to fold and seal stepped end paper sacks. It achieves this by hot air jets reactivating pre-applied hot melt adhesive. The sack is fed into the feeder by hand or by Total Bag Control system and then automatically crease the top, heats it and folds it over and finally presses it to a tight seal.
Most types and sizes of 'Pinch Bottom' sacks are suitable, the stepped end must be treated with a hot melt adhesive, which is reactivated at about 150°C. The pinch bottom heat sealer has a variable pitch drive pulley that gives a speed range of 9-11 metres per minute. It is essential that the speed of the heat sealer is exactly matched to the speed of the conveyor underneath.
The normal temperature range of the unit is between 100°C and 200°C. An adjustment enables the precise temperature to be selected.
Conveyors
Pacepacker have a wide range of conveyors to suit most applications for transporting bags, boxes, products and pallets. Standard conveyors include:
- Multi ply PVC belt conveyor.
- Rubber belt conveyor.
- Plastic slatted conveyor.
- Stainless steel slatted conveyor.
- Mild steel roller conveyor.
- Stainless steel roller conveyor.
- Roller conveyors are available in both driven and gravity construction and can either be friction drive via bands or chain driven.
As standard the range of conveyors have a moving surface speed of around 11m per minute, although we can accommodate clients particular requirements. For precise adjustment and speed matching we can also supply conveyors with inverter controls.
Sack Kickers and Turners
Robust construction and clever design enables Pacepacker Sack Turners and Bag Kickers to give smooth, fast and reliable operation on a wide variety of sack sizes and materials ready for palletising. They are designed to lay down an upright conveyed bag to a flat configuration ready for palletising.
The 90 degree Motorised Sack Kickers shown above is one of the most affordable, accurate and adjustable units available.
If your conveyor system is in-line, we also manufacture suitable bag turning options.
Sack Flattener
The robust construction and compact design enables fast and reliable operation on a wide variety of sack sizes and materials. They are designed to compress a laid down bag to eliminate air and shape evenly ready for palletising.
This is achieved by using compact drum motors and idlers running in opposite directions, feeding the bag into a tapered opening that is easily adjustable for compression height. The flattener is fitted with a pre-tensioner that allows a certain amount of movement should an oversized bag pass through it or if it is incorrectly set.
An alternative square roller flattener device is available for larger irregular products like potatoes.
Pick and Place
Robotic pick & place systems are built new Fanuc and second user ABB robot arms and can achieve a throughput in excess of 180 packs per minute, placing items into plastic or cardboard trays and containers.
Packs are conveyed into the cell, and if required accumulated into the desired arrangement, prior to being picked up. With a variety of payloads, if required, a complete layer can be transferred at once resulting in a high performance, reliable system with as few operations as possible per tray or box.
As well as packing trays and boxes, variations allow for the automatic filling and indexing of dollies, trolleys and carts. Typical systems include a pack accumulation system and an automatic supermarket dolly indexing system with a Fanuc robot arm loading the cart with bags of produce.
To enhance pick & place systems, state of the art vision solutions, installations can identify a variety of pack characteristics in preparation for picking, these include colour, size, product, weight and even orientation.
DeltaPac
A solid frame supports the ultra light and fast robotic 4 axis arm with tooling to suit many, many applications from picking up primary products to retail packs, boxes & trays. Suitable applications include pick and place of fruit, salads, burgers, fish portions, blocks of butter, confectionery and ready meals to name but a few.
The DeltaPac™ pick & place system utilises the latest servo drive technology. The controls are very simple, and programmed via a touch screen. The system is extremely quiet yet offers precision placement.
Items are identified by the robot using a tracking system and lifted from an in-feed conveyor. They are then placed into a positioned box, tray or carton, multiple items can be picked up to increase throughput.
Other features include fast installation keeping disruption and downtime to a minimum, quick change tooling to suit different products and packs, simple operation and most importantly fast payback on investment.

Robot Palletising
Projects include individual grippers and attachments for Fanuc robots through to turnkey robot pick and place or robot palletising facilities. With multiple sizes and versions of new robots available from Fanuc, we are confident that we are able to offer you the solution you require.
Filled sacks, boxes, trays or crates enter a palletising cell and picked from a special conveyor to be stacked in any configuration you choose. The filled pallet can then be removed from the cell with a forklift truck via light activated entry guards or discharged on an automatic takeaway roller system for storage or removal
Robotic palletising speeds depend on many factors such as product stability and cell layout. Cycling speeds of up to 30 per minute are achievable, this can potentially be increased by picking up more than one item at a time.
Compact Robot Palletising
Compact robot palletising systems are based around either new Fanuc or used ABB robots and configured in such a way that they can be installed in very tight spaces.
Typical projects in the past include putting a complete system inside a container so that it not only comes in its own working environment, but also mobile to services multiple sites. Also supplied with it are the electrical generator and air compressor to produce all of the facilities required to make it completely independant.
