Sewer Rehabilitation Quick-Lock Patch Repairs
Our new ‘stainless-steel’ patch repair technology
Patch repairs are typically used for pipes that are damaged by inadequate sealing’s, tectonics and the strain by dynamic traffic. Damage includes cracks, holes, un-tight pipe joints and root penetration. The Quick Lock gaskets are designed to completely reconstruct a pipe’s stability if any such damage occurs and is the only system on the market which is suitable for all types of pipes.
The quick lock uses mechanical bracing meaning no additional chemical products such as glues, laminates or resins are necessary. The materials used are V4A (316) high-grade steel and EPDM rubber which have been successfully proven in the construction of pipes and sewage for decades.
It is suitable for use in factories such as food and dairy manufacturers and breweries etc that produce a trade effluent and in particular high temperature flows containing chemicals that can damage existing clay or concrete pipes. .
The Quick-lock comes with a 50 year manufacturer guarantee
Resin Patch Repairs
McAllister Bros Ltd also uses the Epros resin patch repair system which has passed the WRC short term hydrostatic testing procedures and extensively used through the world. The Epros drain packer method is for the repair of pipes in the case of cracks, fractures, open and displaced joints and strong infiltration.
Localised patch drain repairs smooth over displaced joints, seal cracks and holes reducing the resistance caused by such defects therefore increasing the flow of solids and liquids helping to prevent future blockages in a problem drain. The patch repair would also prevent further root ingress, water ingress or egress by sealing the pipe internally and restoring the structural stability of the pipe. This method is also successfully used worldwide to seal pipes with water infiltration or have failed air tests which can prevent sewer adoption.
Main Features
• Full structural repair bonding to existing pipe even in wet conditions
• Highly resistant to chemicals and abrasion
• Hard surface finish gives improved flow characteristics
• Tapered edges give a smooth flow transition

Sewer Cleaning
McAllister Bros Ltd has over 40 years experience in sewer cleaning in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK as a whole. We provide a comprehensive cleaning service to all types of industrial and residential applications. Our Cleaning equipment ranges from small jetting units for domestic operations to Jet-Vac cleaning units capable of 90 gpm @ 2500psi used for cleaning most pipelines & culverts.
Culvert Cleaning
We also provide a unique Re-Cycling unit service with 3 Powerful Water Re-cycling cleaning units capable of 180gpm @ 2200psi. These units are ideal for removing large volumes of silt in a short period of time from any pipeline or culvert.
The unique re-cycling systems mean the unit never has to leave site to re-fill the tanks with water. It draws the water from the sewer along with the debris. The sewerage is filtered and the debris is deposited into the waste tank and the water is filtered and put back into the jetting water tank enabling a continuous cleaning operation. The dried debris silt can then be augured into a builders skip onsite reducing time & costs of transporting waste to a landfill site.
Tank and Wet Well Cleaning
McAllister Brothers Ltd has been specialists in tank cleaning and liquid waste management for over 40 years. From large pumping stations, sumps, wet wells, septic tanks to forecourt interceptors, our specialist waste teams will manage your waste requirements efficiently and professionally. On each project we provide a full Risk Assessment and Method Statement giving precise details of the plant and equipment to be utilised together with details of the qualifications of the personnel involved in the operation and the programme for carrying out the work. Our fleet of vehicles includes tankers, ranging in size from 2000 gallon to 5000 gallon capacity that can handle large quantities of material through powerful suction pumps. We can recycle the liquid, holding onto the heavier solids and re-introducing the liquid back into the tank if required. As a registered waste handler, we comply with all stringent waste legislation for waste disposal. Preparing and completing legal waste documentation for you is all part of our service

CCTV Pipeline Surveys
McAllister Brothers Ltd utilises a range of survey and inspection techniques to present a comprehensive picture of an asset's condition, points of blockage or failure. McAllister Brothers Ltd operates a variety of specialist CCTV Pipeline Survey services delivering effective surveying, inspection and diagnosis of asset condition for every kind of pipe, vessel and tank.
CCTV is the most cost-effective and least disruptive method of obtaining accurate information on the condition and indeed the location of sewers and pipelines.
Utilising the latest WinCan software, the CCTV van acts as a mobile office enabling our professional experts to compile fully detailed reports, drawings, videos and DVDs whilst on site. The report and DVD data can be e-mailed to customers from the van.
All of our CCTV operators are accredited by WITA and trained to MSCC Ed4 in OS19X, OS20X coding methods (recognised European Standards).
The cameras can be remotely controlled from any of our customised CCTV vehicles or, where required, manually walked through the pipe to allow our CCTV teams to survey up to 600m of continuous pipeline via live video footage.
McAllister Bros Ltd also offers a full Man-Entry Survey Service for large diameter pipes and culverts. Our sewer traversing team are fully trained in confined space entry, using full breathing apparatus and are fully trained in confined space rescue.
Sewer Network Surveys and Mapping
McAllister Bros Ltd has been carrying out Sewer Network Surveys since 1991 and has over 75 projects completed to date. These range from small village surveys with less than 5km and less than 50 asset points to full city sewer network surveys consisting of several hundreds of kilometres of sewers and several thousand manholes and assets. We have completed projects for most of the Water Authorities in the UK and Ireland and many private companies also.
Our experienced survey teams undertake detailed structural and dimensional surveys of key sewer assets, often involving confined space entry. The data is collected and either recorded in hard copy survey card form or recorded using the latest mobile PDA devices with built in GPS.
A network model of the sewer network is produced in SUS25 / STC25 Formats to be compatible with infoworks as well as drawings of the network in AutoCAD and MapInfo formats.
We also carry out comprehensive Pumping Station surveys including drop tests to assess pump efficiency and operation and the mechanical and electrical details of the pumping station.
Overall the Sewer Network Survey consists of Manhole Surveys, CSO and Outfall Surveys, Pumping Station and sewer ancillary survey all in accordance with the Model Contract Document.
We also carry out full Topographical surveys using the latest GPS technology or using the traditional total station technique.
Lateral Rehabilitation (top-hats)
It is often the case that damage to the sewer system is first evident on the joints between the main sewer line and the laterals. Cracks appear on the joints due to slight movements in the pipes relative to each other, which are caused by temperature fluctuations or heavy traffic. Ground water infiltration can then wash soil into the sewer system and voids are formed around the joints. Repairing this damage is not always straightforward. However, using our top-hat system, repairing lateral connections is no longer a problem.
McAllister Bros Ltd uses 2 different methods for carrying out lateral repairs.
The Epros LCR top hat lateral repair system uses a polyester impregnated corrosion resistant fibreglass insert used to re-line failing laterals and laterals that have been robotically opened after CIPP lining.
It forms a leak-tight bond with the lateral to the main pipe.
The Hachler EL300/600 Grout injection lateral repair unit consists of a control trailer and the top-hat robot. The robot is positioned on the lateral using the two on-board cameras. The sock is inflated into the lateral to prevent stop mortar from entering the lateral itself and blocking it. The shield is pressed against the main line wall and mortar is injected into the resulting cavities. After about 20 minutes, the mortar has hardened and the robot moves on to the next lateral. CCTV footage is obtained during this process to check that the operation has been successful
Manhole Rehabilitation
At McAllister Brothers, we use Haechler’s equipment with ERGELIT specialist mortar for manhole rehabilitation. We believe that manhole renovation using ERGELIT mortar is the urban developer’s economical, high quality alternative to complete replacement of a conduit.
The ERGELIT mortar is mixed with water on site. It is pumped by hose from the mixer to the point of application and sprayed on to the surface by means of a centrifuge pump. The high centrifugal force ensures excellent adhesion to the substrate, and this adhesion is enhanced by bonding agents which are included in the mortar.
The spray-lining unit, is lowered into position in the manhole where it sprays out the specially-developed ERGELIT material. The quantity of material is adjusted in accordance to the nature of the respective damage. This means heavy damage and extreme water infiltration can be repaired easily.
The manhole which needs renovating is first flushed through with the usual cleansing equipment, so that it free of deposits and the worst of the pollution. Hard deposits such as concrete etc and roots that have grown through are milled away with our robotic cutters. After that, the manhole is cleaned up using a rotary spray-head with a nominal pressure of 100 bar (400 litres of water per minute) and a maximum pressure of 700 bar.
Under low flow conditions, cleaning can be carried out without the need for flow to be interrupted. Where larger amounts are involved, the flow will have to be interrupted. This is achieved by diverting the flow of wastewater through over pumping or tankering.
Thanks to the short setting time of ERGELIT mortars, the flow need only be interrupted in the wastewater system while work is being carried out and up to 4 hours after the end of the relining process. No water can be allowed to flow during the spraylining procedure. Any water ingress through holes or joints must be sealed off with ERGELIT injection mortar before relining begins.
Robotic Cutting
McAllister Brothers Ltd provides a simple and cost-effective solution to construction companies and developers with a unique service in pipe rehabilitation during the construction phase. The problems of intruding connections and displaced rubber rings can be overcome using the latest robotic cutters which fit easily into a manhole.
The cutter simply travels up into a section of pipework and removes any intruding lateral or rubber ring without the need for excavation. This process saves valuable time and money for any developer faced with this problem. This cutter can also cut through concrete and stone blockages which are suitable for domestic household and private properties.
The robotic cutting unit is also used in conjunction with our sewer rehabilitation team to prepare pipes for re-lining or patch repairs by removing any intrusions or encrustation / roots prior to repair and to re-open lateral connections when rehabilitation is complete.
