HiMould

HiMoulds  - The Tappex HiMould range of brass inserts has been designed as a technical improvement on the superseded Yardley style of insert, specifically for moulding-in during the cycle of the moulding machine. This is the traditional method of placing metal inserts in plastic mouldings, although normally the insert is laboriously screwed onto threaded pins located inside the mould tool. With the HiMould range, this costly and inefficient process becomes unnecessary, as the insert can be rapidly located on to plain pins giving higher productivity and reducing tool down time. Despite the use of plain pins the unique design of the HiMould insert still gives guaranteed flash free threads. By using sleeve ejectors around the pins to push off the moulding, this can simplify the mould tool design and also provide a faster and more reliable moulding process, thereby increasing productivity. Tappex HiMould inserts (blind and open ended) have become widely used in all types of thermoplastic and thermoset plastic mouldings.Tappex can offer threadforms including Metric, Unified & British Standard. HiMoulds are normally produced in Brass but other materials can be considered to suit customer's specific requirements.

Multisert

Multiserts - The Tappex Multiserts range of brass inserts have been developed for post-mould press in , either COLD/HOT or with Ultrasonics, as appropriate to the application requirements and customers own manufacturing processes. Available in a variety of sizes M2 to M12, with unheaded, headed (single & double thicknesss) body styles, threadforms include Metric, Unified & British Standard. Multiserts are used in all types of thermoplastic and thermoset plastic mouldings. As well as a comprehensive range of standards, Tappex are always prepared to discuss customers bespoke requirements with modified geometries and different materials i.e. Steels.

Foamsert

The Foamsert is a special version of the Trisert (Brass) and has a very coarse truncated external thread form. Like the Trisert it has three equidistant cutting flutes over the length of the external form and it is this unique combination that makes the Foamsert ideally suited for use in structural foam materials, laminated chipboards, medium density fibre board and certain types of glass reinforced plastics.

Continuous product development has led to a headed version of the Foamsert providing all the benefits of the headed Trisert in an expanded range of materials. This innovative new design adds a significant degree of versatility to the existing inserts for plastics. Both the Double Ended and Reduced Headed versions are installed using a reversible driving mechanism.

Trisert

TRISERT - The Tappex Trisert range of brass self-tapping inserts includes three primary designs: Double Ended, Reduced Headed, and Regular Headed variants, to solve most application problems in thermoset and thermoplastic grades including the latest engineering plastic alloys. The concept of the design is to provide a reliable and efficient post-mould production process, where the installation torque can be controlled and monitored for increased reliability. Triserts are available in both Metric, Unified and British Standard threadforms.

Suresert/Setsert

Sureserts are designed for either Ultrasonic or Heat installation into notch/stress sensitive thermoplastics. They have a double ended design that is easy to orientate for manual or automatic installation. Part nos prefix 202, followed by thread sizes that include M3 & 4 currently with larger sizes under development.

Setserts are specifically designed for cold press installation into hard and glass-filled thermoplastics and thermoset polymers. They are available as either Single or Double Ended brass inserts. Part nos prefix 076 and 476 respectively including M3, 4 & 5 with other sizes to customer order.

Tappex hold patents on these and other inserts as original manufacturers.

Male Inserts

Tappex offer a range of Male Inserts based upon the female equivalent (Brass & Steel). The basic insert families and variants of Trisert, Multisert or HiMould are available in various male threaded lengths depending upon previous customer requirements.

Generally Male Inserts are manufactured to meet designer's specific needs. To reduce costs and lead time Tappex will try to meet your requirements by supplying the closest available part from stock, however please discuss your requirements with us as we may be able to manufacture to your specification.

Anti-creep Spacers

Anti-creep spacers are designed to provide reinforced clearance holes for bolts to pass through in a plastic moulding, and thus allow metal-to-metal tightening torques to be applied to an assembly without over-stressing the plastic.
The design of the spacer is carefully defined with relation to the plastic section and the mating parts, so that the amount of clamping force applied to the plastic is limited. This prevents the plastic from 'creeping away' with time and elevated temperature, which reduces the overall clamping force, allowing the bolt to loosen under vibration.

The spacers, either Brass or Steel can be designed for either mould-in or post mould press-fitting, for use with both thermoset or thermoplastic mouldings, and can be manufactured in brass or steel depending upon the application.

Grooved Pins

The Grooved Pin has three longitudinal grooves swaged or formed into a cylinder of material; this has the effect of increasing its diameter. In each application, installation of the grooved pin causes the grooves to compress; this compression produces outward pressure on the walls of the hole and in so doing secures location of the pin. The pin is held in position under elastic tension and therefore cannot be easily dislodged in harsh environments.

A wide variety of standard pin types are available for many applications eliminating the need for more labour intensive or complex fasteners.

The Grooved Pin range has provided fastening solutions in a number of industry sectors including: machine building, chemical equipment, manufacture, precision engineering, automotive and electrical engineering.

Trisert-3

Designed for critical conditions, the robust Trisert-3 can withstand harsh environments and corrosive atmospheres. It has been designed to provide a reliable, strong and wear resistant thread in applications, environments and materials that would be unsuitable for brass inserts.

The Trisert-3 is available in two lengths - regular and long - and is based on the Trisert Reduced Headed design. It is manufactured in two grades of stainless steel (303 & 316) plus case hardened steel with an electro-plate finish.

Ensats

The Ensat is a single ended self-tapping threaded insert with an internal and external thread available from M4-M30 dia in some variants. These inserts are produced in standard and thin wall configurations with either a single slot or multiple holes providing the thread cutting features. The Ensat is suitable for installation into a range of materials including Plastics, Light Alloys and hard woods.

The inserts are generally available in case hardened steel with a zinc and passivated finish and austentic or ferritic stainless steel. Other materials are available, please contact our sales department.

MultiRiv

MultiRiv - a new range of cold formed Rivet nuts developed for Plastics & Composite applications. MultiRiv is available in sizes from M3 to M14, in steel, stainless steel & aluminium (not all sizes available currently, but some under development) with a variety of body styles round bodied (with 4 lateral holes to generate a controlled 'deformation' zone), hexagonal & square. MultiRiv for plastics and composite applications is characterised by have a unique 'control / collapse' zone due to the incorporation of 4 lateral holes around the mid-section of the fastener body. This results a a typically wider grip range and more uniform collapse of the rivet nut's body or cylinder thus ensuring more even distribution of clamping forces. As a consequence, for example of wider grip range, reduced inventory can result.
