Plastics Injection Moulding Services

G&A Moulding Technology have broken down the injection moulding process into key components and critical process parameters. Each one of these key components is on a worksheet which is completed by performing weight and product analysis. By completing each PRO-OP worksheet in turn, an optimised process results as from the ten different sets of experiments conducted. It can be used as supporting evidence for validation or ISO compliance by demonstrating the procedures and processes used.

There is supplied as an Excel based version for use on a single laptop or our new Web-based version that allows users to centrally-store information to be shared across company sites globally and allows collaborative working, remote technical support and support for processes moved between sites.

Each web-based PRO-OP licence is stored on a secure server in its own folder which also has space for supporting documentation such as component drawings, mould tool drawings, photographs, inspection results, validation history, moulding machine type and specification, etc. Each licence can have multiple users but only one at a time. An administrator licence is also available which enables the management of users within an individual company.

Plastics Injection Moulding Training Extrusion Training

Training in the use of PRO-OP, process optimisation and injection moulding is offered on site at customer premises globally or at G&A’s state-of-the art technical facility in Peterborough which has been awarded a Centre of Excellence for The National Skills Academy for the Process Industries. We believe the key to profitability and sustainability lies within a company’s ability to maintain a World Class skill level within its workforce and use fundamental principles as the solid foundation through which core polymer processing skills are developed.

Mould Process Design

Mould Design Course
This three-day course is for design engineers, tool makers and process engineers to gain a full understanding of the basic rudiments of mould design. It covers steel types/selection, mould cooling, feed systems, cycle time achievement, two-plate/multi-plate and runnerless moulds, hot runner systems, undercut/unscrewing moulds, standardised components, prototyping techniques, use of
CAE technology, etc.

Mould Process Optimisation Software

Mould Process Optimisation Software

This four-day course has been designed for the more experienced process technicians and engineers who carry out mould tool trials and troubleshooting in order to improve productivity levels. The course is based on a systematic, logical approach in breaking the moulding cycle down into simple elements that can be optimised. It therefore highlights any reasons for failure of optimisation.

Three complete optimisation exercises will be undertaken to provide a strong understanding of all methods and concepts employed during the training. Software developed by G&A will be used for the final exercise with a copy of the results stored and provided for the participants to retain for use on return to their place of employment.

Injection Moulding Training

Modular Training
Module One: Melt Preparation and Plasticisation
Module Two: Process Control
Module Three: Materials Technology

These three-day modules are for process technicians/
engineers to allow them to fully understand the aspects of process stability, part quality and productivity, along with the causes of problems.
They have to be undertaken in order and it is normally recommended a two months gap is allowed between modules for consolidation and project work.
Upon completion they can progress to the Process Optimisation course if required. They can also attend a Materials Technology II which is an advanced course giving more in-depth knowledge.

Fundamentals of Injection Moulding

Fundamentals of Injection Moulding
This four-day course is for technical and non technical personnel who are associated with production of thermoplastic injection moulded components. The practically based course covers the concepts of injection moulding with knowledge of the important principles given, highlighting the process is founded upon
technical logic.

Areas covered are moulding machine construction; process parameter selection (setting of the moulding process); the effect of mould temperature control; material handling; and the use of additives with reference to component quality and consistency.

The course is ideal for sales, marketing, quality,
production control and production administration personnel, as well as production, development and design engineers.

Pro-Op - Process Optimisation Software

G&A has independently developed a systematic
step-by-step procedure for optimising the injection moulding process to achieve optimum quality products
at an optimum cycle time resulting in economical
component manufacture.

Pro-Op™ has been designed to achieve consistent repeatable part manufacture improving yield by reducing scrap levels, part quality issues and increased moulding machine production running hours (OEE); therefore reducing downtime and time needed for troubleshooting whilst in production. The procedure highlights weaknesses and problems in relation to part design, mould design, mould construction, moulding equipment efficiency, moulding equipment specification and material selection.

Pro-Op™ not only provides the end user with the mechanism to achieve the most consistent and economic component but also allows complete transparency to demonstrate the processing conditions and equipment contributed to the final result. It is aimed at those individuals who set and support the moulding process to a standard that enables their companies to remain competitive in today's economic environment by sustaining a performance level that provokes stability and growth.
It offers the industry a standard, well documented and validated process for optimising the manufacture of an injection moulded plastics part and is useful to both the small moulder and large OEMs who need their components to be validated and have traceability.
