On practically every installation a PA door of some sort will be required unless the main entrance door is of a concertina type or light domestic grade roller door, which has external locking capability such that the door can be unlocked and slid or lifted. To do this there can be no chain or electrical operation of the door.

An electrically operated door that has remote operation can potentially fail to operate due to power failure or a fault in the years to come. In such a case a PA door would be necessary to gain access to rectify the fault or to override the electrical motor and gain entry.
