Self-adhesive labels are produced on a computerised printer. Some printers do not require a separate computer and are stand-alone using laser or more commonly thermal mechanisms to provide text. Materials used are paper, plastic, metal or fabric and are printed with information such as a bar code, address, warning or product identification used in supply chain management. The adhesives used are pressure-sensitive and of different strengths giving permanent label adhesion, or labels which can be removed carefully without damage to the packaging. Ultra-peel labels leave no residue on removal.
