G & P Batteries is the recognised market leader in the collection and recycling of waste batteries in the UK. Its forward thinking approach to recycling and establishment of recycling routes has been at the forefront of the positive track record in recycling more than 90% of waste lead acid batteries. G & P has put in place a comprehensive service offering storage, handling, transportation and recycling as well as advice and support on wide ranging compliance issues governing waste batteries.

The UK has been less successful in recycling portable waste batteries, with less than 3% of waste batteries produced being sent for recycling. Nevertheless, G & P currently handles the vast majority of that volume and has for a long time supported any initiative which raises awareness of battery recycling. It also has established routes for recycling every type of battery collected. As a result of the EU Batteries Directive, the UK is now being forced to improve its record. The Directive states that by 2012, 25% of portable waste batteries generated in the UK must be collected for recycling. To comply with the European Directive, the UK has created the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations, which came into force in May 2009. G & P is primed and ready to meet anticipated business growth as a result of these regulations.
