Ball screw
Rolled Ball screw has larger end journal diameter using one piece of material!
Abssac is understood to be the first in the UK to supply a single piece, rolled ball screw that has a thread form right up to the end journal, which then has a diameter that is equal or greater than that of the screw thread diameter itself.
At first glance this innovation seems simple, but when you start to consider the limitations in thread rolling processes and take into account that previously it has been impossible to roll a thread on anything other than a single diameter bar stock, for the entire length of the screw, you start to see the great technological advance
Ball screws (Precision)
Ball screws that have been cold rolled formed are ideal for applications that do not require the finite accuracy of the ground ball screw equivalents, but are still required to reliably transmit a linear load with high degree of accuracy.
Put simply, the rolling process forms a thread for less cost than grinding. However, we can still achieve accuracies of C7-20 (that's 52 microns per 300mm of lead accuracy - 20 microns of axial backlash).We have 30 years of experience in ball screws, to help guide you through the selection process to ensure the right part is chosen for the application. Ball screws (Transport
Utilising the recirculating ball bearing nut technology as the base of the product, the Industrial class ball screws encompass screw diameters from 16mm up to 80mm as standard. In many cases multiple ball circuits, per ball nut, are employed to achieve greater load capacities making the product suitable for many types of application.
As the name suggests, the range is aimed at the more industrial type application with dynamic load capacities from 900 to 13449 kgf being catered for. Whatever the load, it will be delivered with both high efficiency and low drive torque.
Stocked screw lengths of up to 3000mm are available up to 32mm diameter and screw lengths up to 4000mm long for screws above 40mm in diameter on request.
Offering the Industrial ball screw range converts rotary input into precise linear movement. All industrial ball screws can be delivered cut to length and if required, machined ready to fit into the required support bearing mounts.
Ballscrew (Ground)
Ball screws that have been formed by a grinding process are used where acute linear accuracy is paramount within the application. We offer a quality program of metric threaded screws, with a variety of ball nut combinations. The chart below details the diameters versus the available leads.
In March 2008 we launched a new end deflection series, which recirculates the ball bearings in the end plate of the ball nut. This design not only reduces the length of the ball nut but reduces the cost as well. The new FEB and FDB series are available in diameters of 6, 8, 10 and 12mm with leads ranging from 2.5 to 10mm. As standard this new series offers up to C3 lead accuracy and a full end machining capability.

Bearings (support)
The latest range of low-cost precision quality thrust and radial bearing units from Abssac are ideally suited for lead screw and ball screw applications. The complete thrust bearing kits contain the bearing housing, bearing set, cover, spacer, seal, locknut and set screw. We have Invested in large stocks which gives Abssac the advantage to supply same or next day pillow block and flange mounted bearing types that are interchangeable with leading brands at very competitive prices.
We stock and supply a complete range of support bearings that are suited for ball and lead screw operation. Available in both flanged and pillow block versions that cater for shaft sizes from 4mm up to 40mm.

Electroforms
Servometer© electroforms are a formidable product package. As the sole United Kingdom distributor, Abssac can supply quality-crafted bellows, couplings, electroforms, and electrical contacts. For those engineers familiar with the traditional electroforming process we are offering a new way of looking at both complexity of shape, wall thickness tolerance, integral strength and capability.
The process begins with a piece of aluminium stock or bar. Next the internal geometry of the electroform is machined into the aluminium to produce a mandrel. After inspection, nickel, copper, gold, silver or combinations there of are electrodeposited onto the mandrel to a precise wall thickness. Following a post plate inspection the plated mandrel is trimmed to produce the desire end configuration and dimensions. Finally, the aluminium mandrel is then dissolved in a caustic solution leaving behind the completed electroform. At this point special finishes or coatings may be applied.

- A volume compensator, the electroformed part can compensate for the changes in volume of a fluid in a sealed container
- A bellows volume compensator is in effect a controlled precision bubble, which will change its volume to compensate for the changes in the fluid volume
- The same electroform can also be used as athermalization assembly - which accurately converts temperature change in to a predicted linear motion.

Filling a custom bellows assembly with an engineered fluid with a known coefficient of expansion, allows the expansion and or contraction, to compress or extend the bellows translating the motion into an accurate linear deflection.

The controlled electroforming process can also vary the wall thickness in different places on the same part for selective rigidity and flexibility allowing hollow parts with walls as thin as 0.0127mm (0.0005inch) for miniature applications including electrical bellows contacts and precision instrument applications.

Our bellows type contact springs are manufactured from electrodeposited nickel alloy, and gold plated according to ASTM B 488-01 to enhance their conductivity. They are flexible and dynamic, and designed to provide a lifetime of reliable interconnection. Furthermore, they can help overcome tolerance buildup and thermal expansion problems in critical assemblies.

The Rota-Cam Clutch utilises the easily installed Roto-Cam®, which completely eliminates external, separately mounted fulcrums, yokes, levers or trunnions and permits a simple, clean compact control system for direct or remote, manual or powered actuation. The Disc-o-Torque® Hydraulic clutch are self-contained and require no linkages, levers or adjusting devices. Lead screw
Are you looking for a lead screw supplier that can produce exactly what you want ? Or perhaps you have an old acme screw that needs replacing but have no technical drawing specifications to work from.
When you want a more sophisticated nut design the chances are the part has more importance in the workings of the machine.
By supplying both the screw and nut from the one source, Abssac Limited can eliminate this area of potential trouble. The designer can also utilise the experience of its engineers to incorporate many features into the nut design in complete confidence.
To date many bespoke nut designs have been supplied, including optical mounts, cams, external threads, mounting holes, pulley grooves, tangs and linear guides to name a few. Lead screw sizes range from 1mm diameter up to 100mm with a wide range of both metric and imperial leads per diameter. Nuts can be manufactured in just about any machinable material including Bronze, steels and advanced plastics such as Delrin, PTFE or Turcite .
Whether it is a simple lead screw or acme thread, Abssac has one of the largest linear product ranges to choose from. Lead screws (Power Range)
Lead screws for medium to heavy duty industrial applications can be best supplied through our POWER SCREWS program. Complimented with a large selection of Bronze and Steel nut designs, the power screws can be supplied in lengths up to 6m on request. Bronze nuts are normally machined from SAE660 bronze but also employed aluminium bronze hybrids for certain applications. Leadscrews (Teflon Coated)
Lead screw applications often require Abssac to look at enhancements to the standard product in order that higher efficiencies or perhaps higher temperatures or duty cycles can be achieved without premature product degradation.
One such enhancement of the standard lead screw product is Teflon coating. Teflon by nature has some keen attributes in the world of linear motion apart from the obvious; having one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid material. For example, stainless steel products coated with Teflon ® fluoropolymer resins offer extremely hydrophobic properties and are completely resistant to hydrolysis. As a good barrier to water permeation; typical properties and dimensional stability remain unchanged even after year-long immersion in water.

Satellite roller screws
Satellite roller screws are high precision linear devices, that faithfully transform rotary movement into a linear movement. By design they are similar to ball screws but with the difference that the ball bearings are replaced by threaded rollers, which are constantly engaged with the threads of the screw. The resulting higher number of contact points within the nut, means that both heavier loads can be accepted, product life is considerably elongated and extremely accurate linear positioning can be achieved

Self reversing screws
The self-reversing screw product does not require the driven screw to change its direction of rotation to enable the nut to return to its original start position. The reciprocated bi-directional movement is achieved by using a follower blade in the nut, that is matched to the particular groove width and screw turn round on the screw. (Our self reversing screws, do not utilise ball bearings in their linear travel).
- There is not a standard range of this screw type as all designs are manufactured to meet the customer's individual specification
- They can be created in just about any mild steel, stainless steel, bronze or Aluminium

HKK HRC Jaw coupling
The curved jaw coupling design consists of an elastic “spider” and two hubs. The spider, made of an advanced polyurethane material, provides dampening of impulse loads, minimizing shock to the motor and other sensitive equipment. These spiders allow the user to customize the jaw coupling’s performance. Selecting a soft spider will give the jaw coupling the greatest dampening characteristics, while a hard spider will provide the greatest torque capacity and strength. The jaw coupling can also be considered as a fail safe device. If the spider fails, the jaws of the two hubs interlock allowing direct power transmission, allowing the application to be safely shut down for maintenance.
L Jaw shaft coupling
L Jaw couplings are designed to meet high-quality standards whilst remaining affordable. We offer two Jaw-type Elastomeric couplings: a straight L-Jaw coupling available with four insert materials designed for various application torque loads.
