Plastic Springs

LeeP is our response to requests for plastic springs that combine the strength of metal with the attributes of high performing engineered thermoplastics. After many years of engineering design and materials research, Lee Spring’s team has developed this compression spring offering.

LeeP™ Springs offer many advantages including:

Unique patent pending designs to maximize spring rates and cycle life, while minimizing solid height
High strength to weight ratios that maximise performance and reducing mass
Excellent stability of physical and mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 340°F
High corrosion resistance and generally compatible with many chemicals such as strong acids, weak bases, aromatics, and ketones
Non-magnetic material does not interfere with imaging and other Ferro-sensitive technologies
Dielectric insulating material suitable for non-conductive applications
Inert non-contaminating plastic composite protects product purity
Low flammability and toxicity ensuring environmental safety
Recyclable and compliant with most Global regulations including RoHS and REACH

LeeP Springs are designed to meet a range of spring applications where non-corroding, non-metallic, inert materials are preferred. These include:

Medical products and processing equipment
Pharmaceutical delivery devices
Imaging and X-Ray equipment
Food processing and packaging equipment
Aerospace products
Marine products
Electronics and electrical equipment

Water Purification systems
Chemical environments
Automotive interiors
Pollution Control systems
Semi-conductors
Instrumentation
Communication devices
Cosmetics packaging equipment

Custom Springs

Custom Springs

Welcome to 'Custom Springs Direct' - a streamlined service for the provision of custom designed and manufactured springs.

All you have to do is send us a drawing or specification form to show what you need, including load requirements and quantity, direct to our dedicated custom spring email address: technical@leespring.co.uk and we'll come back to you within 24 hours.

Help with selecting spring requirements

-download any one of eight spring type specification forms from our website and then choose the spring type you need click here.
-get help from our Glossary that explains some of the terminology used in specifying custom springs click here.
-Materials, finishing, operational temperatures and tolerances are detailed in Specification & Tolerances data click here.

We also have the capability to produce many other types of springs, washers, wire forms and stampings as well as assemblies of these products. Please contact us to discuss your particular application.

Lee Spring is Britain's No1 Stock Spring Supplier...

…with over 16,000 different types of round wire compression, die, extension, torsion springs and disc springs. Our portfolio of products amounts to literally millions of springs – more stock, more choice and more product lines than any other spring supplier in the UK.

All are available for despatch on the day you order them.

Our spring ranges reflect the most commonly requested sizes but we also offer a range of specials including conical springs, swivel hook springs and drawbar springs. As always the range is supplemented by a custom spring design and manufacture service as well as selected spring kits.

Compression Springs

Compression Springs are open-coil helical springs wound or constructed to oppose compression along the axis of wind. They are the most common metal spring configuration. They can be placed over a rod or inside a hole. When loaded, a compression coil spring pushes back against the load and tries to get back to its original size.

All our Compression Springs (with a couple of exceptions) have square and ground ends. Squared and ground end compression stock springs are good for:

  • High Duty Springs
  • Unusually Close Tolerances on Load or Rate
  • Solid Height Minimisation
  • Accurate Seating and Uniform Bearing Pressure
  • Buckling Tendency Reduction

Our springs are ideal for automotive engines, stamping presses, lawn mowers, medical devices, cell phones and electronics to name a few.

Wave Springs

Wave Springs

REDUXWave Springs are made to replace the round wire Compression Springs in applications requiring a tight load deflection specification in a small space.

Our Wave Springs occupy a small space relative to the amount of work they can do. In fact they can reduce the size and weight of the assembly by as much as 50%.

REDUX Wave Springs are made from one filament (Type 17-7 Stainless Steel flat wire) formed in continuous coils with uniform diameters and waves. They are manufactured in diameters from .375” (9.52 mm) to 1.25” (31.75 mm) to meet load requirements from 4 lbs (1.8 kg) to 30 lbs (13.6 kg).

Hefty Die Springs

Hefty Die Springs are usually priced at 1/2 or 1/3 the price of similar rectangular wire springs, giving a fantastic value package.

The features and benefits of our Hefty Die Springs are:

  • Shot Peened - extends life
  • Preset - prevents length loss
  • Powder Coated - colour coated for identification
  • Closed and Ground Ends - proper squareness and large bearing surface uses

They are ideal for clutches, brakes, farm machinery and aircraft mechanisms.

Torsion Springs

Torsion Springs are attached to components at each end. When the components rotate around the center of the spring, the spring attempts to push them back to their original place. They are subject to bending stresses and can store/release angular energy. They will also hold a mechanism in place deflecting the legs about the body axis.

Most Torsion Springs are used in applications like swing-down tailgates, clipboards, clothes pegs and garage doors to name a few. They can be very small in the electronics industry or much larger in chair control units.

Visit the website to find out more about out Torsion Springs.

Extension Springs

The applications for Extension Springs are garage door assemblies, vise-grips, pliers, trampolines, washing devices, farm machinery, toys and automotive interiors to name a few.

Belleville Washers

Our Bellevillie Washers are designed to support high loads with relatively small deflections and solid heights compared with helical springs.

They are used to solve vibration thermal expansion, relaxation and bolt creep. You can stack the Belleville Washers to add additional load flexibility.
