Load Pins
When a clevis pin is used, you can usually replace them with a load pin which is usually made of high strength stainless steel or super alloy.
You will find them on the following:
- Winches
- Cranes
- Wedge Sockets
- Anchor Chain Stops
- Shackles
To measure the strain through a section of a load pin a Strain gauge is used. It is then arranged into a whetstone bridge circuit. The measurement helps with 3D modelling which allows the finished product to be visualised before the final drawings are made.
Compressive Loads
The load cell is constructed from high strength stainless steel. A complete range covers the load capacities from 10te to 100 tonne. Each load cell can be fitted with loading plate assembly or other loading attachments. The load cell is built to the highest commercial standards that include temperature compensation over a wide temperature range.
Tensile Loads
The load pin is manufactured from high strength stainless steel and fitted with stainless steel anti-rotation plate. The load cell is used for both temporary and permanent tension or compressive applications, or for mooring loads etc, particularly in rugged and harsh conditions. It can be also used at the dead end of a rope such as a winch or crane.
Universal Loads
The load cell is constructed from high strength stainless steel. A complete range covers the load capacities from 500kg up to 25 tonne. Each load cell can be fitted with loading eyes or other loading attachments. The S cell is built to the highest commercial standards that includes temperature compensation over a wide temperature range.

Custom product
Active Load will incorporate the strain gauge transducer with a strain gauge amplifier to achieve an enhanced signal.
Many of our strain gauge transducers are designed to be in the form of load monitoring pins to measure rope tension. Other forms taken are as load monitoring links and compressive load cells.
Application
The strain gauge transducers are designed for the environment in which they are to be employed which can be very harsh, sub-sea and are sometimes are required for hazardous areas.
