Slip Rings

BGB Engineering have an extensive range of standard components to suit most industrial, military and civil applications. Our slip ring products cater for a variety of speeds, power/signal transmission and environmental conditions.

BGB offers bespoke slip ring design solutions. In many instances standard parts can be adapted to provide a new product.

Underwater Lighting

BGB manufacture underwater lighting for a variety of applications, ranging from floodlighting canels, marinas and waterways through to architectural underwater lighting for garden ponds, swimming pools and fountains. Other BGB submersible luminaires include yacht lights, divers headlights and pressure chamber lighting.

Brush Holder Assemblies

Our range of standard brush holders  very adaptable and lends itself to both fast and slow moving applications. Standard construction is brass with copper foil or braid connections although variations can be requested. Double spring versions and brushes are available where specified.

The range varies from simple calipers and cartridges to advanced fixed box holders with constant force springs and 22KV collectors.

Optilinc FORJ

The new BGB Optilinc system has been produced to revolutionise the slip ring market. Optilinc is the first of the new generation of contactless slip rings to be produced by BGB Engineering Ltd. The fibre optic rotary joint (FORJ) is ideal for high speed data-transfer on many applications. Constructed in stainless steel, Optilinc has exceptional durability protecting the unit from dust and water ingress to IP65 and is not influenced by vibration, humidity, heat, magnetism or other typical slip ring disturbances.

Lightning Protection

Robust brush holders that are designed to dissipate lightning energy and thus defend critical components (typically main shaft and yaw bearings on a wind turbine). Lightning will take the shortest route to earth, so the holders function is to divert its path away from the bearings.  BGB supply many Wind turbine OEMs with Lightning Protection including Siemens and Vestas.

Wind Turbines

BGB engineers have developed many years of applications knowledge on wind turbines. BGB were the first slip ring manufacturers to design a dedicated wind turbine slip ring for hub control systems. The Company is now a leading supplier in the development of slip ring solutions for this growing industry

Collector Columns for Half-bridge Scrapers

BGB has a range of products that are specifically targeted at the water treatment industry. The SPB01, SPB02 and SPB03 units offer robust weatherproof enclosures that are built to withstand the rigors of an open environment.

Features of the Collector Columns for Half-bridge Scrapers include: Robust 'vandal proof' enclosure, I.P.65 sealing, Transfer to X amps & Y volts, Analogue/digital signal transfer, Multiple channels up to Z ways and service friendly.

Balancing Service

BGB have been fully accredited and certified as a Schenck specialist contract balancing service provider for central East Midlands and East Anglia. BGB's HM3 Balancing machine has a max rotor weight on support rollers of 300kg, max diameter above balancing machine base of 1,260mm and bearing journal diameter of 9-70mm (70-140 extended). Our trained personnel have the experience needed to economically and precisely balance or safety test all types of rotors.

Underwater Lighting for Aquaculture

BGB also manufacture underwater lighting and cameras for the Aquaculture (fish farming) industry.  Products include:

Pisces 400 - A submersible, pendant, fish cage illuminator with an outstanding record of reliability season after season.

Pisces 1000 - The luminaire embodies a 1000 watt, metal halide lamp. It is self contained, streamlined and corrosion proof.

Turtle - An entirely self-contained floating unit, housing a highly efficient metal halide discharge lamp together with associated control gear.

Aqualux - A photometer developed specifically for the checking and monitoring of sub-surface light levels within fish cages and tanks.

Underwater Cameras

FR camera feed response CCTV - A compact and robust, underwater camera assembly for feed response and behavioural monitoring of fish stocks. The camera is designed for operation in low light conditions and housed for permanent immersion in seawater.  The underwater camera can also be used in other non aquaculture environments, such as swimming pools and marinas.

Nuclear Lighting

Aqualux is a system of underwater lighting equipment based on a series of parabolic, aluminised, reflector (PAR) lamps designed for direct immersion.

A watertight power connector cap is bonded to the hard glass envelope, obviating potentially troublesome seals and facilitating easy lamp replacement. The mating connector is of a type employed in deep diving equipment and moulded directly to the power feed cable and the union is secured by a stainless steel locking sleeve.  These lights are primarily used by the nuclear industry for monitoring and illuminating nuclear storage ponds and reactor pools.

Connectors & Cables

The safety and reliability of electrical installations can be significantly affected by the quality of both cables and connections linking system elements. BGB Marine has manufactured and supplied rubber moulded connectors to the diving industry, both civilian and military for over 25 years.

Digilinc - Wireless Ethernet Connection

Digilinc wireless ethernet bridge enables high speed data or video links to be transmitted across distances of up to 20km with line of sight.  The system eliminates the costs, disruptions and delays that the laying of hard wire provides. Incorporating 11 Mbps bandwidth and direct sequence spread spectrum technology, a frequency of 5.15 to 5.85Ghz provides powerful, reliable and secure transmissions in assorted weather circumstances.

Built around ethernet technology, Digilinc is very effective in providing a wireless local area network link between commercial and residential communities.

Refurbish, Repair or Replace

BGB can refurbish, repair or replace sliprings of all types in any industry.  As part of the refurbishment process, BGB can perform the following tasks:

  • Electrically test unit for any faults, including flash test @ 13kV and load test to check for any build up of resistance in the slip ring. Test reports are provided with all units.
  • Fully clean to remove excess carbon dust build up.
  • Machine rings back to correct surface finish and address any concentricity issues (scrolls are also cleaned during this process).
  • Re-apply anti tracking varnish to maintain correct electrical ratings.
  • Re-balance slip rings
  • Strip, clean and rebuild
  • Rapid turnaround

BGB will provide the refurbed slip ring to a similar "as new" condition.  If the slip ring is physically damaged in any way, shape or form we can also address this issue.

Marine Underwater Products

The new BGB Marine E-Brochure is now available both online and in booklet form.

The new brochure has all BGB Marine underwater products listed in an A5 easy to read booklet.  The e-brochure continues in the same style as the new Optilinc e-book with its innovative approach of showing online literature.

If you wish to receive a hard copy version of the booklet please email your details to:  sales@bgbinnovation.com .

Optilinc

The new BGB Optilinc e-book is now available to view online.  It contains all you need to know about fibre optic rotary joints (FORJs), wave length division multiplexers (WDMs), media converters and the applications that Optilinc can be used in.

The new hard copy of the brochure had its first viewing at the recent AWEA event in Anaheim USA.  Visitors to the BGB stand, located on the UK Pavilion, were most impressed by its contents, the look, and the easy to read nature of the little black booklet.
