Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)

Magnetic particle inspection is used for locating surface and near to surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic material. Leakage is detected by use of fine ferromagnetic particles applied over the surface. The magnetically charged particles form an outline of the discontinuity and indicate:- Location Size Shape Magnetic Particle Inspection is an excellent method of detecting discontinuities in raw materials or finished product (prior to final inspection).
