Tritex NDT Ltd

Tritex NDT manufacture and supply a range of multiple echo ultrasonic thickness gauges used to determine corrosion levels and measure metal thickness without disturbing or affecting protective coatings, only the metal thickness is measured. All gauges have Intelligent Probe Recognition (IPR) as well as Automatic Measurement Verification (AMVS).

Our ultrasonic thickness gauges are used all over the world in all applications where metal thickness and corrosion is of concern. They have been designed to be robust for use in extremely harsh conditions and all gauges are built to the highest standards. We are an ISO9001 certified company and committed to quality and customer service from first contact and throughout the active life of the gauge.

Non Destructive Testing (NDT)

Our thinkness gauges represent a highly accurate form of non destructive testing. As a leader in NDT, we have designed our products to be used in multiple environments with damaging protective coatings.

All gauges comply BS EN 15317:2007. The standard verifies the ultrasonic thickness measuring equipment to ensure they meet certain criteria of performance and build quality.

Multigauge 5500

The Multigauge 5500 ultrasonic thickness gauge has been designed for hands-free use when climbing on staging, scaffolding, ladders or using rope access. The gauge has a bright LED display for use inside dark tanks and can be used for the inspection of ships, large storage tanks, road tankers, pipelines, lighting columns or ultrasonic inspections on bridges. It uses multiple echo to ignore coatings up to 6mm thick. only the metal substrate is measured. The gauge also has Intelligent Probe Recognition (IPR) as well as Automatic Measurement Verification System (AMVS) for enhanced performance, even on the most corroded metal. The Multigauge 5500 is supplied as a complete kit, has a three year warranty and free calibration for the life of the gauge. An optional leather case is available.

Specifications include:

  • Sound Velocity Range: From 1000 m/s to 8000 m/s (0.0394 in/µs to 0.3150 in/µs)
  • Probes: Single crystal soft faced - 2.25 MHz, 3.5 MHz & 5 MHz
  • Measurement Range: 1 - 250 mm  (0.04” - 10”) depending on probe used
  • Probe Sizes: 6 mm (0.25”), 13 mm (0.5”) & 19 mm (0.75”)
  • Resolution: 0.1 mm (0.005”) or 0.05 mm (0.002”)
  • Accuracy: ± 0.1 mm (0.005”) or ± 0.05 mm (0.002”)

Multigauge 5600

The Multigauge 5600 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge is a general purpose gauge designed for most common thickness gauging applications. It has a bright LCD colour display giving user information such as battery life, calibration settings and probe information. The intuitive menu system allows for easy setup of the gauge which uses multiple echo to ignore coatings up to 6mm thick, only the metal thickness is measured. Measurements can be taken from one side only. A protective probe membrane means that the probe does not wear out and there is no need to first zero the gauge before use.

The gauge also has Intelligent Probe Recognition (IPR) as well as Automatic Measurement Verification System (AMVS) for enhanced performance, even on the most corroded metal. The Multigauge 5600 is supplied as a complete kit, has a three year warranty and free calibration for the life of the gauge. An optional leather case is available.

Tritex Multigauge 5700 Datalogger

The Multigauge 5700 Datalogger has all the same features of the Multigauge 5600 but with the added advantage of having the capability to store measurements within the gauge. Templates can be created to store readings in a grid, string or combination of both, allowing complete versatility for all applications. The measurements are then transferred to a PC or laptop using wireless technology, which also allows remote gauging if required. The versatile intuitive software includes simple wizards which guide the user in setting up templates or files for various applications. The gauge has been designed in line with Tritex’s concept of Simple, Accurate and Robust.

The gauge utilises the Multiple Echo technique to ignore coatings up to 6mm thick and just measures the metal substrate. No grinding or removal of the coatings is required, significantly reducing preparation time and ultimately saving both time and money when carrying out inspections. All probes have Intelligent Probe Recognition (IPR), which automatically adjusts settings in the gauge when connected, resulting in a perfectly matched probe and gauge for enhanced performance. Also, the Automatic Measurement Verification System (AMVS) ensures only true measurements are displayed, even on the most heavily corroded metals.

Single crystal probes, which have a number of advantages when measuring on curved and corroded surfaces, are protected by a membrane ensuring the probe does not easily get damaged.

The gauge is extremely robust and designed for harsh environments. An optional leather case ensures extra protection.

The Multigauge 5700 Datalogger is supplied as a complete kit in a hard carry case, ready to use, with a 3 year warranty and free calibration for the life of the gauge.

Multigauge 3000 Underwater

The Multigauge 3000 is a simple, robust gauge  for most underwater applications. The gauge is pressure tested to 500m and has the option to transfer measurements to a surface display unit with the simple addition of a replacement end cap. It has been designed and built to survive extremely harsh conditions of the offshore and underwater industries.

The Multigauge 3000 uses multiple echo technology. The gauge is equipped with IPR (Intelligent Probe Recognition) to adjusts settings for enhanced performance and AMVS (Automatic Measurement Verification System) to ensure only true measurements are displayed.

Multigauge 4000 ROV

The Multigauge 4100 and 4400 are both designed to be mounted onto all types of underwater ROV’s. Both gauges have been designed and built to survive extremely harsh conditions that exist in the offshore and underwater industries worldwide.  The 4100 and 4400 gauges use multiple echo which means measurements can be easily taken without the need to remove coatings and the RS422 output makes connection to most ROV’s simple.
