Sleeves & Mouldings

The Regal Rubber Group manufacture and supply a range of speciality Rubber and Polyurethane Sleeves/Bushes.

Our seamless sleeves can be supplied with a variety of compounds and hardness, are mandrel wrapped and can be supplied with a cloth wrapped, smooth or ground finish. They can also be reinforced with cotton or nylon to increase the tensile strength.

Our multi-layer, fabric reinforced rubber sleeves are used on ‘Evaset’® equipment for preshrinking all types of woven fabrics.

The sleeves also assist with the softening and compacting of woven and non-woven fabrics without the use of chemicals.

‘Rotabelts’ (pictured on the right) are large, fabric reinforced rubber sleeves used in the wet end of paper machines  to assist with pulp de-watering. The sleeves are manufactured with abrasion- resistant rubber compounds and machined

with computer- designed drilling and grooving patterns which assist with water removal.

Polyurethane tubes have the best combined properties of both plastic and rubber and can be provided in a variety of hardness to suit the application.

They offer high abrasion, tear resistance, tensile strength and good elongation values.

Excellent weathering characteristics with good chemical resistance such as most oils, gasoline’s, kerosene, and such other petroleum-based chemicals.

Bowed/ Expander Rollers

Spreader rolls or ‘bowed’ rolls or ‘banana’ rolls are used in most manufacturing processes that produce a continuous web or substrate.

Examples include textiles, plastic-film, paper manufacturing and the various converting industries.

To satisfy the extensive requirements of these applications, The Regal Rubber Group manufacture a comprehensive range of new ‘Moseleybow’ metric-sized rubber covered spreader rolls, from 80 mm to 180 mm diameter, suitable for both wet and dry applications.

A full roll refurbishment service is also available, with both metric and imperial sized spreader rolls regularly restored to their original OEM condition.

Our bowed rollers are manufactured on mild steel or stainless-steel axles with machined and balanced spools, branded metric bearings, Viton end-seals and covered with an optimised rubber sleeve.  All rolls, whether high or low speed, are manufactured to very high mechanical tolerances in our workshop in Scotland.

Rubber Sheeting & Strip Products

We are one of the UK’s leading suppliers and converters of rubber sheeting, matting and rubber products to industries across the UK, Europe and worldwide.

All our rubber sheet grades are available in a wide range of thicknesses and can be supplied in full rolls, cut to size sheets or manufactured into bespoke shapes such as gaskets, strips, cut profiles and sleeves using our in-house CNC technology.

Utilising CNC technology enables us to precision manufacture our rubber sheet products to tight and exacting tolerances without the need for new tooling.

We stock and supply a vast range of rubber sheeting grades such as commercial, food approved, abrasion resistant and high specification rubbers.

As part of our service we can come along to your facility, measure and install as well!

For more information on our individual grades of rubber sheeting, please look at our specification section below or click the ‘View Online Store’ button.

Bespoke Rubber Cutting Service

Regal Rubber & Polyurethane provides a bespoke rubber cutting service and can cut and supply rubber sheeting to most shapes and dimensions with a high degree of precision.

In some cases rubber can also be ‘cold-bonded’ or vulcanised to metal components or other substrates depending on the application.

Our cutting service is particularly useful to those clients requiring smaller quantities of rubber sheeting or for those without the means to cut to the required tolerances.

All rubber from our range can be cut to suit your requirements.

Specialised Grinding & Grooving

The Regal Group has the capabilities to add a wide range of finishes to our rubber rollers. These finishes are designed to improve the rollers’ performance in an application: to give a better grip when moving windows along a conveyor belt, to ensure that paper pulls through printing equipment straight, to keep products from sliding (and potentially jamming equipment) during processing—just to name a few possibilities.

With over 30 years’ experience, we can help you determine the best finish for your needs. We can suggest alternatives that may yield better performance than OEM-specified finishes. Our team will work with you to find the best combination of material and finish for your unique application.

We offer numerous patterns, grooves, crowns and finishes for rubber rollers:

  • Chevron-pattern grooves
  • Lateral grooves
  • Radial grooves
  • Diamond-pattern grooves
  • Herringbone-pattern grooves
  • Spiral grooves
  • Horizontal or vertical ruling patterns
  • Tool finish
  • Grind finish
  • Wet grind finish
  • Cloth finish
  • Concave crowns
  • Convex crowns
  • Custom designs to your requirements

State-of-the-art equipment and a skilled, experienced workforce ensure perfect precision and superior quality in all

our roller finishes. Every roller must pass inspection before leaving our plant.

Rubber Linings

Over the years, the Regal Group has become increasingly involved with the rubber lining of bespoke, offshore and marine products, tanks, chutes, pipework, etc.

Rubber lining is a specific coating method used to protect various engineered products and systems. The coatings are applied to prepared surfaces, usually by hand and must be chemical, seawater resistant, etc. The linings are ‘vulcanised’ ensuring they are fully bonded to the coated surface.

The Regal Rubber Group has three large electric and steam vulcanisers, including one of the biggest in the UK, therefore we can undertake some of the largest and most complex rubber linings!

Regal Rubber have completed many Caisson guide and clamp lining contracts for a multitude of oil and gas platforms and more recently, J-tube lining for off-shore wind-farm installations.

These linings are generally manufactured with our ribbed, seawater grade neoprene compound, and can be either hot or cold bonded to the inside surfaces of the guides.

(Cold bonding is done with special epoxy-based resins whilst hot bonding is done using rubber-to-metal proprietary adhesives and vulcanised in an autoclave).

Typical Manufacturing Procedure:

  • Inspection of guide or clamp metalwork.
  • Guide is marked with unique I.D. number.
  • Metal de-greased if necessary, prior to grit-blasting.
  • Inside guide surfaces grit-blasted to ISO 8502-3.
  • Metal surfaces coated with primer and proprietary adhesives.
  • Rubber compound tested to BS 903
  • Rubber lining applied to inside metal surface.
  • Hot bonded guides are cured inside computer controlled vulcanizer.
  • Finished linings inspected for hardness and dimensional accuracy.
