Brokk
drilltec, a complete service for drilling, grinding, planing and demolition
A Brokk is a mechanical
demolition robot. It is controlled via a control panel operated by a certified drilltec tradesman specially trained to manoeuvre
the complicated machine. The Brokk has a number of functions which include a percussion hammer and hydraulic jaws which can
break up reinforced concrete up to 300mm thick, and buckets for excavation and clearing of debris.
Our Brokks are powered by 3–phase electricity which is vital for working in restricted areas where noise and fumes are
a problem. Another bonus of the Brokk is that the operator can stand a substantial distance from where the demolition works
are being completed, so dangers of falling debris, etc., are eliminated, making for a safe working environment.
Using the remote control panel which operates the Brokk machine
means that all possibilities of Hand Arm Vibration and white finger syndrome are eliminated. Previously, when doing the
same work using hand held machinery, government legislation enforces a limit on the daily usage allowable to prevent ‘HAV’ and
white finger.
Now, when drilltec use the Brokk, a simple job such as breaking out openings can take a fraction of the time. For example,
if breaking out an opening, standard equipment such as a Hilti TE905 hand-held percussion hammer drill can only be used for
60 minutes per day because the vibration levels are 8m/s², compared to the Brokk which can be used nonstop due to the
0m/s² vibration levels. This shows how an opening that takes 4 hours to remove using the Hilti TE905 and will take
two men two days to remove the debris, compares to the Brokk which could remove it in a fraction of the time using only
one operative.
