The uprights within the formed end frames incorporate an unusually large amount of high strength steel. This provides so much strength and rigidity that each bay can support 4200kg (when the first beam is no more than 1000mm from the floor and subsequent levels are no more than 1000mm apart).

Drive-in Racking

Using minimal space to  access aisles and lanes; drive in racking provides a high-density and very space efficient bulk storage system for storing large quantities of the same goods behind or above one another using the First in Last Out (FILO) principle.

Fork lifts load pallets onto rails or channels, so that the first pallet into a lane is moved to the back of the aisle to be the last out. With higher storage per cubic metre than any other system type; Drive-in is very suitable for applications such as food cold storage where limited stock rotation is required.

The system lends itself to high volume movements of low value products where handling costs are a large percentage of the overall product cost.

Narrow Aisle and Very Narrow Aisle Racking

Narrow Aisle Racking operates using a high-density system which improves your overall capacity by reducing the widths of the aisles by up to half compared to standard pallet racking.

Narrow Aisle Racking is extremely efficient as it maximises the height at which pallets can be stacked. Special trucks are used that work effectively in the narrow conditions in order to precisely retrieve pallets from any position within the racking.

Wires or rails are used at floor level in order to guide the trucks precisely, reducing the risk of damage to stock or the racking due to human error. The risk of injury is also very minimal as these special guided trucks are designed to improve safety within the storage system. Sufficient training should be carried out before operating one of these guided trucks.

The Health & Safety Executive recommends that all racking installations are inspected at least every twelve months, any failure to conduct regular inspections can invalidate insurance cover. We can provide both informal pre-inspection visits and professional Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) racking inspections.

It is important to contact an industry specialist such as ourselves, if you suspect that a racking installation may have become unstable or has suffered damage. We can advise on arranging the necessary condition reports as well as the spares and repairs to bring the racking back into a safe condition.

SEMA Inspections

Annual SEMA inspections will ensure that all racking and storage systems are safe and compliant with the Health and Safety Executive recommendations.

A SEMA inspector must hold the regulatory certificate and be named on the SEMA Inspectors register before they can offer you a SEMA Safety Inspection Certificate. The inspection will cover all the requirements from the condition of the structure, security fixings, safety netting, line marking to load notices and other ancillary products depending on the type of materials being stored.

Pre -Inspections:

West Pennine Storage Equipment can provide you with an informal pre-inspection, detailing any remedial works that need completing prior to your SEMA inspection.

The pre-inspection will cover all the criteria of the SEMA inspection but not be accredited, therefore enabling you to complete any repairs, giving you peace of mind that you will pass your SEMA Inspection.

Our team of experienced consultants will visit your site(s) in advance of the annual inspection date and complete a thorough inspection, providing a full report of their findings. Your consultant will provide you with a quotation for the cost of the repairs ensuring that they will be completed in advance of the SEMA Inspection.
