Coil Springs

Acme Spring manufacture many different types of springs and spring clips to suit many industries made from materials suitable to meet the essential requirements of life, energy and action.

Coil Springs

Tension Springs

Tension springs, sometimes known as extension springs, are coil springs, normally tightly-wound, that are loaded in extension And have many different types of ends known as hooks, eyes or swivel loops. In fitting and in function tension springs are stretched or extended and are under tension trying to pull the spring back to the solid position.

Tension springs have an extensive range of uses applied and have many applications, including garage doors, architectural furniture, levers and trampolines.

Tension Springs

Wire Forming

Acme Spring manufacture wireforms in many materials in sizes from .4 mm up to 8.00 mm made from materials suitable to meet the essential requirements of life, energy and action.

Wire Forming

Torsion Springs

Springs which work in twisting motion are known as Torsion Springs applying a resistance in the twist (a torque). Generally, torsion springs are used when the spring tightens. Problems can occur if the spring is used in an opening twist and is not recommended.

We manufacture open or closed wound torsion springs in wire diameters from 0.1mm – 3.20mm (0.0004″ – 0.125”) on CNC machines and up to 5mm on coiling lathes, all with specified spring ends to meet all applications and assembly situations. Torsion springs can be produced with multiple bends and double torsion. All processes are subject to quality control at every stage of production.

The advent of CNC wire forming machines has enabled engineers to design myriads of end forms. Torsion springs can be single coiled body or double bodied known as double torsion.

There are a wide range of uses for torsion springs and are normally used over a mandrel. Acme Springs manufacture and supply a wide range of torsion springs from small torsion springs used in electrical equipment and up to large diameter springs used in hinges and lids.

Compression Springs

Compression springs are the most common type of helical spring. When compressed from its free length the spring applies a resistive force. This increases at a standard rate for a standard compression with constant diameter and pitch and wire size. Shaped or tapered wires can vary form this norm.

Compression springs have a wide range of uses and are found in most mechanical applications; such as valves, actuators, suspensions and switches, to name a few. The function of a compressions spring depends on the design requirements and parameters. Compression springs are used for vibration suppression and to absorb heavy loads.
