Coating thickness measurement instrumentation from Fischer ranges from X-ray fluorescence XRF analysers to complete bench top coating measurement systems to hand held gauge solutions with a variety of interchangeable probes.  The X-ray XAN®500 is the latest addition to the family; a hand-held X-ray well suited to large samples or difficult to reach areas by utilising probes.

Electromagnetic method instruments - coating thickness pocket gauges and coating thickness handheld gauges, benchtop units and probes - provide simple, fast and non-destructive coating thickness measurement on virtually all metals.

Coulometric method instruments work according to the energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence method (XRF). They are well suited for coating thickness measurement and for analysing materials in a very broad range of applications. Materials Testing using specialist hand held gauges from Fischer are suited to the testing of ferrite content of welds and platings, the electrical conductivity of non ferrous metals, porosity testing of electrically non conductive coatings and sealing quality testing for anodic coatings on aluminium.

Materials testing of electrical conductivity measurement of non-ferromagnetic metals using the SIGMASCOPE® SMP350.  Applications include airplanes, Mints, thermal sprayed coatings of non-ferromagnetic metals,e.g. Cu., absolute measurement of electrical conductivity during the production process of aluminium copper, etc. and checking the electrical conductivity before anodizing aluminium.

Materials testing using porosity test instruments – also known as portable holiday detectors - are robust for harsh use on construction sites or in manufacturing – with continuously adjustable test voltage. The POROSCOPE® HV5, HV20, HV40 holiday detector allows you to find pores quickly and reliably on coated metals such as enamel- or plastic-coated mineral oil tanks, agitator kettles, pipelines, boilers and heat exchangers, plastic-coated food packages, corrosion protection coatings on hulls.Sealing quality tester for anodic coatings on aluminium using the ANOTEST® YMP30-S, a hand-held instrument for on-site testing e.g during building cleaning. Weather resistance of a finish depends on admittance (Y).

Materials testing of the ferrite content in austenitic and duplex steel using the FERITSCOPE® FMP30.  Applications include normal steel with austenitic chrome alloy steel welded cladding (boilers, vessels).

Fischer's powerful X-ray fluorescence XRF analysers provide simple, fast and accurate material analysis of unknown materials with Fischer's WINFTM® V6 software for material and multi-dimensional coating analysis.

The X-ray fluorescence analyser series are part of the FISCHERSCOPE ® Goldline Assay, suited for fast, non destructive and accurate gold content measurement in jewellery and precious metals.

Other xrf analyser models in the series are suited for testing RoHS and WEEE compliance. Legal regulations (RoHS, REACH, WEEE, EOLV or CPSIA) strictly limit the concentration of various harmful substances, for example in electronics products, toys or packaging. FISCHER offers X-ray fluorescence (XRF) measuring instruments for fast screening. The samples are not destroyed and do not need to be prepared extensively. For example, the critical chemical elements Pb, Hg and Cd with detection limits of a few ppm can thus be measured in plastics.

The FISCHERSCOPE® HM2000 micro hardness system is a computer-controlled measuring system for micro hardness testing and determination of material parameters according to ISO 14577.  Application examples include: paint, synthetic or hard material coatings (PVD, CVD), electroplated coatings (decorative, functional), materials used specifically in medical technology applications, electronic components and bond wires.

The PICODENTOR® HM500 is extremely suitable for the measurement of thinnest nanometer coatings.  Application examples include: hard material coatings, ultra-thin DLC coatings, dirt-repellent coatings (e.g. sol-gel coatings), coatings for PC hard disks/ CDs, very thin lacquer coatings, ion-implanted surfaces, nanocoatings for sensors, implants/ medical technology, matrix effects in alloys, biological materials and ceramic materials.

The new FISCHERSCOPE® X-RAY XAN® 500 from Fischer offers a mobile coating thickness measurement option particularly useful for large specimens or difficult-to-reach locations.  The geometry is optimised for a safe placing onto the specimen and the coating or material composition can be measured reproducibly.

The optional compact measurement box not only carries the whole system safely, it also converts into a mobile bench chamber top instrument, and is designed so that small specimens can be easily placed and reliably measured.  From a radiation protection point of view, the instrument complies with the requirements of a fully protected instrument.
