Bendalls Engineering offer a range of professional services to suit your requirements including design, welding, machining, inspection, testing and site work.

Bendalls Engineering are at the forefront of Design, utilising 2D & 3D packages and calculations software which gives us the ability to design, model, test and produce detailed models and manufacturing drawings to industry standards.

Our 5000m2 facility provides capability across four workshops for large scale fabrication up to 250Te. Dedicated assembly and testing facilities provide the ability to carry out proof load testing, hydraulic and pneumatic testing, FAT testing and functional tests. In addition, we have a large X-Ray Bay that enables us to carry out on site radiography and an in-house machine shop facility.

Design & Project Management

Bendalls Engineering are at the forefront of Design, utilising 2D & 3D packages and calculations software which gives us the ability to design, model, test and produce detailed models and manufacturing drawings to industry standards. We can also provide our clients with 3D photorealistic images and video animations, which can be used to assist in operator training for equipment installation, operation and maintenance.

Our team of fully qualified and highly experienced engineers develop innovative solutions that combine benchmark performance with full legislative compliance and reliability.

The close integration between our design and fabrication departments puts Bendalls in the position of being able to offer full turnkey in-house design and build solutions.

We are able to assess our designs from a manufacturability perspective to provide the most suitable and cost effective build sequencing, and by using a range of 2D & 3D modelling and analysis software, we are able to carry out design reviews to ensure equipment can be installed within plant constraints whereby component clash detection can be eliminated prior to the commencement of manufacturing.

Software Systems

Autodesk Inventor Suite - industry leading Inventor and AutoCAD packages, the Autodesk Inventor suite combines mechanical design, 3D rendering and digital prototyping capabilities in a single, coherent design system.

Ansys – engineering simulation and 3D design software that delivers product modelling solutions with unmatched scalability and comprehensive multiphysics.

STAAD.Pro – structural analysis and design software using various forms of analysis from traditional static analysis to methods like p-delta, geometric non-linear, pushover or bulking analysis.

PV Elite – a complete solution for vessel and heat exchanger design, analysis and evaluation to ASME Section VIII Div 1, PD5500 and EN13445.

Finglow / Flingow 3D – developed especially for the design of pressure vessels and heat exchangers, the software includes a string of modules covering key international standards, ensuring compliance to every relevant code.

Nozzle Pro – a powerful and fast 3D FEA tool for modelling nozzles, saddles, pipe shoes and clips. It can preform automatic fatigue calculations to comply with piping and pressure vessel design codes.

Caesar II – the industry standard for pipe stress analysis, allowing us to build, assess and report on piping systems of any size or complexity in accordance with more than 35 international piping code standards.

MathCAD – software for the verification, validation, documentation and re-use of mathematical calculations in engineering.

Syspro – enterprise resource planning software utilised to achieve maximum workflow efficiency.

Project Management and Workflow – Project management, workflow and costing is handled entirely digitally at Bendalls. Software includes, Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, Microsoft SharePoint, Citrix ShareFile, Box Office 365, Link and CEMAR. This leading-edge approach to the administrative elements of a project helps ensure maximum quality and consistency of customer service and provides instant access to real-time information on progress.
 

Fabrication & Welding

Bendalls facilitates multiple fabrication bays allowing controlled and segregated handling of carbon and stainless steel materials.

Our welders and procedures are approved to ASME IX and EN 15614/287 standards and our welding processes include MMA, SAW, MIG, MAG, TIG, ESW and FCAW in a wide-range of materials which include, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Monel, Duplex, Hastelloy and Incoloys.

Our welding expertise includes automated welding, electro-slag strip cladding with a dedicated column, boom and manipulator capability for weld overlay of pressure vessel heads and bodies in 304/316/625, coupled with plasma arc/oxy programmable profiling systems, rotators, overhead and mobile cranes.

We specialise in the manufacture of pressure vessels up to 5.5m in diameter and 250T in weight, our fabrication team and support functions have developed around this core business.

We are also well known for our award winning track record in meeting the often highly complex and extremely demanding requirements of the global Nuclear industry.

Located close to the UK home of Nuclear at Sellafield, we have developed close ties within this sector, delivering numerous landmark projects dating right back to the industries very earliest days at the beginning of the 1950’s.

Machine Shop

As a precision machining specialist, Bendalls produces machined parts in a segregated machine shop to optimise quality and capacity.

Our dedicated machine shop has 1132m2 of floor space and 20T lifting capability with two 10T Kone cranes.

Our machining capability includes turning, milling and grinding, alongside folding, punching, nibbling, swaging, pressing, drilling, pipe bending, laser cutting and rolling up to 90mm thick (carbon) in 3m wide sections up to 8.5 diameter as well as cone rolling.

The largest of our machines is a Correa Fox 60 Bridge machine. It has a max. spindle speed of 6000rpm, a max. weight of 25000kg and a X6000mm x Y3750mm table with height under bridge of Z1750mm.
