Internet-based business platform Applegate has launched a new website in the culmination of £2 million of investment in new technology.
The new site provides a vastly improved search facility for businesses seeking out goods or services from Applegate’s huge database of millions of products. It’s backed by new processing power, internal systems and hardware – every bit of technology at Applegate has now been replaced within the last year.

“As a technology business, continued investment is essential to keep improving the service we provide to buyers and to suppliers, and it also makes life much better for our staff as well,” commented Applegate Chief Executive, Stuart Brocklehurst.

“2016 has been an amazing year for us, with our new online buying tool, Applegate PRO, adopted by The White House, SpaceX, the MoD, Airbus and hundreds of other firms and governments right across the world – even in Mongolia! For a service we only launched this year, we’ve been blown away by its success.”

Applegate’s investment was supported by a £240,000 grant from the North Devon + ‘Unlocking Business Investment’ fund which has helped the growth of a number of businesses locally.

Mark Ansell, Chair of the North Devon+ Unlocking Business Investment grant committee commented, “Applegate is a great example of how Regional Growth Funds can trigger investment far beyond the value of the grant. The North Devon+ UBI programme has helped many companies to grow, strengthening the local economy and creating dozens of high quality jobs.”

North Devon+ Chairman Andy Lobato added, “North Devon contains many businesses that are world beating in their sectors. Continued investment is key to competing in the global economy.”
