As a business, here at Applegate, we like to do our bit for the local community by supporting local charities.
North Devon Hospice is a charity close to our hearts and it has helped several of our staff’s families, some quite recently.
North Devon Hospice provide specialist care and support to people who are affected by life-limiting illness. Although many of their patients have cancer, they also care for people who have other such illnesses too, such as Motor Neurone Disease, Heart Failure and COPD, among others. The patients and their families are at the heart of everything they do. Without vital fundraising events, the Hospice would not be able to offer such care as they rely on donations to operate.
Each year we run many charity events in house to raise monies for the hospice, these events include the ever-popular bake sales, dress-downs and a very successful raffle at Christmas.
Last year we sponsored ‘Pitch in a Pound’ Day by covering all promotional costs, which meant that every pound raised went straight to the hospice to enable them to provide care and support to their patients and their families. The event went very well raising over £12,000 from donations from local business, schools and individuals taking part.
This year we are once again the proud sponsors of ‘Pitch in a Pound’, taking place on Friday 9th February. In the office we have a dress-down day planned and our wonderful bakers and chefs will be cooking up a storm creating wonderful dishes to create an all-you-can-eat hot buffet lunch for their co-workers to tuck into for the bargain price of £5. All the money we raise on the day will go straight to the hospice who hope to beat last year’s amount.
