Hello, my name is Phoebe and before I started my apprenticeship at Applegate Marketplace, I was a student at Petroc College where I studied Media Studies, English Language and Sociology at A Level. In my spare time, I enjoy swimming and I am a member of Woolacombe Surf Life Saving club.

I heard about the Business Management Apprenticeship programme through my lecturers at college and it instantly grabbed my attention. The initial prospect of achieving a degree whilst obtaining invaluable experience in the workplace was definitely something that I was interested in and attracted me to Applegate instantly. I chose the degree programme as I loved the idea of gaining knowledge in different areas of the business such as marketing and sales.

I didn’t head down the university route as I just didn’t feel that it was for me what with the debt, moving away from home and being stuck in a classroom for five days a week. I’m more of a practical learner so the concept of being able to apply what I was learning at college to the workplace appealed to me as I knew this would strengthen my understanding in each subject.

I am currently working in the marketing department of the company. In the department we listen to clients’ needs and promote the business through the sales of products or services. This allows the business to identify its target audience including customers and clients. I would love to develop my business skills which will be easily accomplished with the work experience that I will go through over the next five years.

I’m looking forward to studying towards my Business Management degree as I believe it will help me obtain an all-rounded view of how businesses work and this will indefinitely help towards a successful career in the future.
