The company was founded in 1963 for the design, manufacture and development of desiccators, desiccant bags, humidity indicators, protection barriers and pressure relief valves to prevent moisture and atmospheric related problems in electronic, optic, packaging containers and many other commercial and military applications. The Brownell range of products has been developed to include a series of moisture and atmospheric protection solutions for instruments, commercial products and packaging containers.

Brownell's customers include AIR PRODUCTS, ALENIA MARCONI, ALSTOM, AMERSHAM PLC, BAE SYSTEMS, BRITISH ENERGY GENERATION, EUROTUNNEL, INTEGRATED UTILITIES, NORTHRUP GRUMMAN, POLICE AVIATION SERVICES, RAYTHEON, SMITHS, THALES, WYCO EMS . The company currently employs 30 personnel and is situated on a modern industrial estate in North West London.
