Hydram Sheet Metalwork supplies components and fabrications to market leading companies in industries such as construction, shop-fitting and display, lighting, earth-moving machinery and domestic appliances. The leading fabrication company provides the full range of subcontract engineering services, including tube and sheet laser cutting, tube and sheet bending, fabrication, powder coating and assembly. Established in 1977 and employing over 200 people in its 100,000 square foot facility, Hydram Sheet Metalwork is one of the largest sheet metal fabrication companies in Europe.
Laser cutting offers a flexible and efficient sheet metal profiling option with superior cut-edge quality, parallel sides and no burrs.
Hydram Sheet Metalwork can laser cut up to 20 mm thick mild steel, “clean cut” up to 12mm thick in stainless steel and 10mm in aluminium. With three 4kw Bystronic laser cutting machines, all with 3 metre x 1.5 metre sheet metal capacity and automated loading systems Hydram's precision laser cutters have the capacity to meet your needs. Hydram has provided a flatbed laser cutting service since 1997 as part of its precision sheet metal fabrication business.
Hydram Sheet Metalwork's CNC punching service offers a cost effective precision sheet metal profiling solution - with rapid processing speeds and lower operating costs than laser cutting.
Hydram’s two CNC punching machines are capable of punching materials in thicknesses up to 5mm and sheet sizes up to 3 metres x 1.5 metres. The materials punch profiled include stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium, brass, copper and plastics. Using computer-assisted part nesting allows maximum material utilisation.
Hydram also offers Punch-Laser Combinaton profiling to permit the best of both sheet metal cutting technologies to be utilised in a single operation. Complex profiles are generated by the laser, whilst holes and rectilinear features are punched at higher speed. The punching head also allows simple forming and tapping (threading) operations to be carried out during the same cycle, therefore saving the need for setting up secondary operations.
Hydram Sheet Metalwork has a full range of precision metal forming facilities including CNC folding, bending and rolling machines.
Hydram has a total of 10 Pressbrakes rated up to 250 tonnes are capable of bending up to 4 metre lengths in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium, used for folding precision sheet metal components. Hydram also uses a Salvagnini P4Xe panel bender to complete its significant sheet metal folding capacity.
Hydram operates two dedicated Tube Laser Machines and two Tube Bending centres. Accurate laser cutting of highly complex shapes is possible and, with imaginative design, tubes can easily be formed and slotted together. Assembly operations are therefore more straightforward, eliminating the need for jigs and fixtures and reducing the requirement for welding.
Tube bending uses a combination of CNC controlled bending head, CNC feeding mechanism and multi-tooled headstock allowing bending with variable radii and variable axis along the length of the tube.
Hydram Sheet Metalwork provides welding of stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium components and custom precision sheet metal fabrications.
Both manual MIG welding and TIG welding are offered along with a comprehensive metal dressing service. The facilities are particularly suited to light and medium fabrications in mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium. Hydram also offers spot welding and stud welding of components.
Hydram Sheet Metalwork employs three Panasonic PerformArc robot welding cells ensure consistency and economy on longer production runs of custom sheet metal fabrications. Maximum welding robot capacity for components is 150kg, 2200mm long.
Hydram Sheet Metalwork offers powder coating and wet spray painting on steel and aluminium components and small fabrications on site.
With three paint plant facilities, Hydram boasts the greatest powder coating capacity of any subcontract sheet metalwork supplier in the UK. There are two conveyor coating plants for powder coating, and a batch processing plant for powder coating bulky items and for wet spraying.
