Abraham Associates Ltd help its customers turn their product ideas into revenue and have been doing this since 1992. As a technical and creative Product Design and Development company based on the East side of Southampton, Hampshire, UK, we provide succinct design solutions to the functional and aesthetic. Along with the latest 3D computer aided design (CAD) tools, our multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience include Mechanical Engineering, Design for production, Engineering Product Design, Industrial Design, Electronics and software. Together, these form a service to develop a wide range of products from concept to manufacture. We also provide production support.

The scope of our experience spans products from low volume high value to high volume low cost, single components to large complex assemblies and systems. Our work has also been in many industry sectors and to companies from start-ups to large corporations.

What we do

What we do

Abraham Associates Ltd are a real world practical company specialising in technical product design and development. Our background and experience is in the manufacturing and engineering industry and is used to create quality, well conceived and profitable design solutions for our customers. This is done by keeping things simple, being creative, professional and efficient in the approach to our customers and business.  Have a look at our Engineering Design Services by following this link.

Product Development

Product Development

We take a product's design from idea to manufacture (or a part of this process if required) through a systematic evolution/development process. Listening carefully to and working closely with our customers at the initial stages are the foundations of our product development service. A typical project will involve a design study that uses a mixture of hand drawn sketches, CAD data, rapid prototyping and production prototypes. This helps to ensure the requirements are met and the product performs in use.

Engineering Design

Engineering Design

In theory, any product that physically does something and/or moves, has a mechanical aspect to it, we can probably assist in its design. As part of our mechanical engineering service, we use 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software to perform design and analysis. This has many benefits, including easier and more exhaustive visualisation of products, the ability to create virtual assemblies of parts, and the ease of use in designing mating interfaces and tolerances. Our Mechanical Engineering knowledge and experience combined with the latest design tools are an integral part of a project, these help ensure success.

Engineering Product Design

Engineering Product Design

We use this like a form of "design adhesive" to join all the elements required to create a product including art, science and technology. Certain custom components may be designed such as plastic injection mouldings, diecastings or machined parts, while standard parts are specified and purchased. Engineering product design taps into many disciplines and pulls them together. These may include ergonomics or the man-machine interface, design for manufacture, aesthetics, and elements of mechanical engineering etc.

Industrial Design

Industrial Design

People relate to the man-machine interface via a products' aesthetics and tactile qualities. Quality of life is improved by having products that not only work and do their job well but are also good to look at and touch. Industrial design merges engineering and art to the mutual benefit of user and manufacturer. This is one of the more obviously artistically creative areas of design and one a wide audience can relate to - it is also where art meets engineering. The customer gets to see the result of this graphically throughout a project. It starts with a design study where not only the aesthetics are explored, but how the design works as a whole. We work with our customers to execute design solutions towards problems of form, usability, user ergonomics, engineering, marketing, brand development and sales.

Electronics Design & Software

Electronics Design & Software

Many products we design are electro-mechanical so electronics and software design is an integral part of development and evolves with the product. Digital/analogue electronics and specialist areas such as RF (Radio Frequency) design are available - particularly popular for wireless/ WiFi products and applications.

Inventors & ideas advice

Inventors & ideas advice

On our website, we have produced information to help inventors seeking advice on ideas, inventions and getting them to market. It is well worth getting your invention or idea professionally assessed and be very sure on what you are trying to achieve and how it is to be realised before committing a lot more time and money. We will try to assist you as far as possible but the inventor will need specific and specialised advice from a patent attorney or other specialist organisation before embarking on or taking a project further. We can work with you in parallel to intellectual property (IP)/patent protection applications. This helps to minimise development time and avoid a conflict between patent application and the final design - a risk of getting a patent granted too early.
