Formulated Polymer Products

Formulated Polymer Products was established in 1988 and has grown rapidly to become a leading supplier of custom formulated speciality latex compounds. These materials are used in the manufacture of a wide range of products including upholstery textiles, carpets and carpet tiles, adhesives, food packaging coatings, foam impregnants, dipped goods, construction products and wallpaper coatings.

We offer an established range of products but are also able to tailor products to customer’s specific needs.

Bromine free, OSPAR compliant semi-clear flame retardant back coatings for upholstery fabrics to comply with BS 5852
Ignition Source 0 & 1 (to comply with The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988).

Flame retardant back coatings to meet BS 7176 medium hazard.

Flame retardant back coatings for wall coverings to meet BS 476 part 7.

Flame retardant, rot proof water repellent impregnants for tenting fabrics.

Hydrophobic water proof textile back coatings. Generally applied in combination with one or two other grades in order to achieve optimum water resistance.

Anti-microbial textile back coatings. Anti-microbial systems can also be supplied in combination with many of the systems listed above.

Water repellent, rot proof flame retardant shower coatings.

Vertical and roller blind coatings to meet appropriate flame retardancy standards.

Carpets

Carpets

High quality carpet coatings and secondary backings including air drying (room temperature drying) grades.

High quality EVA based lock coats which exhibit excellent bonds to bitumen substrates.

High quality flame retardant tuft-lock coatings for carpet tiles.

Adhesives

Adhesives

Two part sprayable contact adhesives for furniture manufacture. These adhesives will bond foam to foam, foam to fibre, foam and fibre to wood.

Pressure sensitive (permanently tacky) adhesives for textiles and papers for self adhesive applications.

Natural rubber latex based self seal (cold seal) adhesives for envelope manufacture and for flexible films for food and snack packaging. Low protein versions of these materials are also available.

Resorcinol/Formaldehyde based adhesion promoters for belting and tyre cord manufacture. Grades are available for adhesion to SBR, nitrile and polychloroprene rubbers.

Carpet adhesives. Air drying natural rubber latex based adhesives carpet to carpet for edge bonding and to bond carpet to flooring.

Yarn jointing adhesives.

Textile Laminating Adhesives

Flocking Adhesives

Foam

Foam

Very high performance flame retardant compounds for polyurethane foam impregnation to meet Class ‘O’ building regulations (BS 476 Parts 6 and &). Finished impregnates can be used for prison pillows and mattresses, acoustic insulation, duct lining and anechoic chambers.

Rigid and soft grades for polyurethane foam impregnation for conductive and antistatic packaging material for electronics packaging.

Active charcoal grades for the manufacture of impregnated  fibre and polyurethane foam for chemical and odour absorbent filers. End applications include filters for ozone removal, aquatic filters and cooker hood filters.

Flame retardant slow recovery impregnates for polyurethane foam for the manufacture of water resistant sealing products for use in the building industry.

Air drying high solids non-slip flame retardant agility matt coatings

Packaging

Packaging

PVDC based heat sealable moisture vapour barrier coatings for food packaging films. These grades have optimised slip performance enabling very efficient high speed processing on packaging lines.

Dipping

Dipping

Low, medium and high modulus prevulcanised natural rubber latex for manufacturing balloons, soothers & teats, surgeon’s gloves, examination gloves and electrician’s gloves.

Moulding/Casting Latex for the manufacture of garden ornament moulds, chess piece moulds and toy moulds. A fast pick-up version suitable for use with plaster moulds is also available.

Low nitrosamine prevulcanised natural rubber latex used for making babies soothers and teats.

Un-vulcanised and prevulcanised low protein natural rubber latex.

Wet Bond Adhesive

Formulated Polymers have introduced a range of wet bond adhesives which are casein and starch free, removing any food allergen concerns with these type of additives.
The water based adhesives are specifically designed for wet lamination of aluminium foil or metallised film to paper, glassine and cardboard.

The main end use being high performance food packaging where the adhesive needs to withstand high heat seal temperatures and severe embossing.

FPP have overcome one of the challenges faced with wet bond adhesives by maintaining a good wet edge on to the foil during lamination to the paper irrespective of the temperature and humidity on the lamination machine.
For more specific details please contact our technical team and we will provide up to date advice recommending the preferred grade of adhesive for the application along with the technical data sheet.

Cold Seal Adhesives

Formulated Polymers have introduced a range of cold seals which deliver very high levels of mechanical stability at high press speeds in excess of 400 metres /minute – this will directly result in less build up  behind the doctor blade and consequently lower scumming levels.

The cold seals are designed to seal a wide range of confectionary and snack foods where non- corona  treated Polypropylene is normally adopted as the base film.

The cold seals have been carefully formulated to provide low foaming, high bond strengths, as well as a long shelf life in both the wet and dry state.

For more specific details please contact our technical team and we will provide up to date advice recommending the preferred grade of cold seal for the application along with the technical data sheet.
