Glazing Vision Ltd

Glazing Vision are technical experts in the design and manufacture of architectural glass rooflights. We are on the cutting edge of rooflight design and our products can be found on rooftops across Europe, Australia and the United States.

We offer a range of standard rooflights encompassing a variety of applications, from simple fixed rooflights to more complex sliding rooflights and access configurations. As well as stock products, we custom-build rooflights to order to ensure the perfect fit to any architectural design.

Our rooflight design ethos is ‘minimise framework, maximise daylight’ and we aim to fulfil this promise with every product we manufacture.

Fixed Rooflights

Fixed rooflights are all about bringing the outside in. Maximum daylight, minimum framework. Simple designs hiding skilled, imaginative engineering.

The Flushglaze is simplicity itself, a minimalist fixed rooflight with 'frameless' internal views designed to allow as much natural daylight into a room as possible. The Flushglaze can be manufactured using a variety of custom glass specifications to suit your chosen application, typical variations include double glazed units utilising toughened heat soak tested and heat strengthened laminated glass, triple glazed, walk on specification glass suited to your required loadings and even fire rated glazing.

The Flushglaze Modular Rooflight system has been developed to cater for joining rooflights together to create large expanses of glazing; it has also been developed to cater for more complex scenarios such as (the Ridgeglaze and Eaves Flushglaze Rooflights). The Flushglaze Rooflight can be divided into sections and joined together using a silicone seal for anything less than a span of 1350mm, anything greater than 1350mm then either an aluminium back to back angle or glass fin (not an option with walk on) will be required.

Roof Windows

The Pitchglaze is a CE marked roof window designed to be installed in pitched tiled roof applications flush with the tiling line. We have adopted our pioneering ‘frameless’ design ethos with this product so that when installed the building occupants can enjoy sky only views through the aperture, something not usually found with traditional roof window products. The Pitchglaze is designed to be used at roof pitches between 15° and 60° and comprises of Qualicoat approved polyester powder coated aluminium framework combined with either double or triple glazing options.

The Pitchridge is a fixed product comprising two panes joined at the ridge using back-to-back angles and silicone seal. The Pitchridge is a fixed roof window designed to provide maximum daylight with minimum visible internal structure. Supplied in either portrait or landscape formats, it is designed to be installed in-plane on pitched roof applications.

The Pitchvent is a CE marked ventilation roof window designed to be installed in pitched tiled roof applications. The Pitchvent can be used at roof pitches between 15° and 60° and comprises of a Qualicoat approved, powder coated dual colour aluminium frame, combined with either double or triple glazing options. This unit is available as either a manually operated unit, using a screw jack and pole mechanism or as a chain actuated variant, supplied with one or two actuators, depending on specification.

Access Rooflights

With space often at a premium, especially in urban locations, installing a roof terrace will allow you to benefit from an otherwise unused area to provide a desirable outdoor space, perfect for entertaining, capturing picturesque views or just enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.

Box rooflights are the perfect solution if you're looking for easy access to your roof terrace. Operated at the touch of a button, the user simply climbs the stairs whilst the rooflight is retracting into its open position and then walks straight out onto the terrace. As with our flat sliding rooflights, the box skylights are quiet in operation and have built in electronic solid-state controls with battery backup, manual override, speed control and creep sealing as standard.

If you are looking for a hinged solution, Skydoor is Glazing Vision's most popular hinged access rooflight and is designed for day to day access to your roof space, ideal for terrace areas on flat roofs. The Skydoor is a sleek, low-profile hinged opening skylight that embodies our minimise framework, maximise daylight principle. With just a press of a button you have comfortable, easy access to the terrace or roof space in less than a minute.

Sliding Rooflights

The Glazing Vision Skyglide is our entry level sliding rooflight. Its simplicity of style is deceptive: the sliding lid section is entirely self-supporting and opens using telescopic cantilever rails hidden within the framework. The unit opens using a robust, precision engineered rack and pinion drive system which also incorporates a built in solenoid clutch to prevent the sliding section being forcibly back driven. Fully retracted, the Skyglide provides a 100% clear opening .

If space on the roof is tight the Glazing Vision ‘sliding over fixed’ rooflight could be the best option. This rooflight is usually split into two sections, with one sliding pane of glass moving over a fixed section. This configuration allows the maximum amount of light to be transmitted whilst opening up 50% of the overall footprint for ventilation.

For larger areas with sufficient unobstructed roof space for the sliding section you should consider a ‘sliding over roof’ rooflight. With this rooflight the glazed section slides as a single leaf and is supported by tracks on the roof itself in the open position. These form part of the framework and allow more scope in size and specification whilst maintaining the 100% clear opening.

Pyramid & Lantern Rooflights

The Glazing Vision pyramid skylight is a contemporary take on the traditional roof lantern. It’s a design classic, but that doesn’t mean you’re limited for choice.

There are three basic options available, a square pyramid roof light at 45 degrees which incorporates an LED downlighter in the apex cap allowing the unit to bit lit at night transforming it into an architectural feature.

Perhaps our most popular unit is our  lantern or ‘elongated pyramid’ style, benefitting from the same glass to glass joints as the square unit this skylight adds a touch of contemporary style to your flat roof and maximising the amount of daylight transmitted.

We also supply an octagonal pyramid rooflight, again with integrated downlighter. All of these products are based on tested standard designs and drawings are available for download at our Resource Centre.

Smoke Ventilation Rooflights

Nobody wants to think about the possibility of fire, but it’s a risk in any building and smoke inhalation during a fire often contributes to or causes many fatalities. All of our electronic opening rooflights can be used to aid with smoke clearance, but a standard vented rooflight should never be chosen specifically for smoke ventilation.

For a CE marked smoke ventilation rooflight (AOV – automatic opening vent) that is compliant with the requirements of BS EN 12101-2 you’d be hard pushed to find better than our xVent rooflight. We think it sets a new standard for the industry.

The xVent has been rigorously tested and cycled many thousands of times in order to meet European standards. On installation it is connected to the fire alarm system which, when triggered, will automatically open the unit to 140 degrees for fast, effective smoke ventilation. The xVent has dual functionality and you can also use it as a day-to-day vent unit, opening up to 45 degrees.

Bespoke Rooflights

Glazing Vision provide bespoke rooflight solutions to bring aesthetics, light and space to your project.

Our entire range of rooflights can be adapted and extended for your particular needs, but it might be that you have an unusual rooflight idea in mind. You just need to talk to the right people to help it take shape.

The demand for one off designs has grown and we now employ an entire team of talented CAD designers who specialise in custom rooflight design. The type of projects they work on can be something as straightforward as an unusual shaped fixed glass rooflight or, just as often, a complicated sliding rooflight arrangement with a combination of fixed, moving and even stacking glazed sections within its frame.

If you’re after something more personal and bespoke, challenge our bespoke rooflight design team for something truly unique.

Secured By Design Rooflights

Security isn’t something you leave to chance, you should ensure that all windows, doors and rooflights are secure by specifying the right product for the job.

Glazing Vision’s Secure and Secure+ range of rooflights have been exhaustively tested against LPS2081 Issue 1:2015 standards to comply fully with Building Regulations Approved Document Q – Security in Dwellings.

Download our Approved Document Q Whitepaper.

LPS2081 Issue 1:2015 is specifically designed to replicate the types of stealth attack common to domestic properties, if you are considering installing rooflights that could be deemed as ‘easily accessible’ under the criteria set out in Approved Document Q, then you must specify a product that has been tested to one of the relevant standards in order to comply with Building Regulations.
