Screen Print T Shirts

If you intend to order 20 or more garments then this is the option you should consider especially if your design is one or two colour. The majority of printed clothing you find in stores would have been printed this way. Screen-printed t-shirts wash well and can maintain the print quality for a long time, have a soft feel/hand and allow for fast production rates and the most cost effective pricing.

Screen Printed Transfers

Ideal for sports teams, clubs, bands, staff and promotional items. Using the all the same methods of screen printing except the final print is applied to a special transfer paper this can then be stored for several months until needed and then applied to a garment using a heat press. Perfect for a situation when you want the cost effectiveness of screen print but do not need all the garments in one hit and might require different colours and sizes throughout a season. We can either press the the transfer on for you or take the transfers away to apply using your own press.

Pricing

When screen printing, one colour at a time is applied and therefore the cost will increase with each additional colour applied. For each separate colour an additional screen is required so screen charges may be uneconomical if only a small run of clothing is required.

The first screen on orders of more than 20 items is free of charge additional screens are charged at £20.

All orders of less than 20 items can be reproduced using digital printing..

Printing is priced according to:

  • How many colours are in the finished design
  • Type of ink to be used
  • Number of prints
  • Complexity of design

As an example a one colour design on 100 White Steadman T-shirts could work out as little as £1.99 per T-shirt. Ideal for promotion or give away items.

The technical bit

Screen printing is a technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The stencils is created using a photo emulsion technique this starts with printing an image onto acetate paper and applying it to an emulsion-coated screen. The screen is then exposed to ultraviolet light which passes throught the clear areas of the design which causes the emulsion to harden, leaving the areas of emulsion that were not exposed to the light to remain unharmed by the process. The screen is then washed off thoroughly leaving the ares of emultion that were not exposed to just dissolve and wash away, leaving a negative stencil of the image on the mesh.

This screen is then installed onto our silk screen carousel where an operater will load the screen with the chosen ink.The ink is then pushed through the creen using a squeegy leaving the desighn on the garment. This is then dried at 290-330º F (143-166º C to fully cure the ink to the garment.

Of course other inks can be used to Jazz up your design..

Embroidery

Our embroidery machine's have some of the most versatile embroidery systems on the market; complete with a 16 colour palette, it can adapt to all production demands. An ideal option for corporate wear, embroidery also offers the ability to place and stitch sequins to almost any garment. Combined with our Laser Cutter, we can have the option of creating Laser Cut applique designs using felt or twill which can then be stitched down to most materials.

We have our own digitizing software, this means that there will be no delays in converting your artwork into the appropriate format or expensive setup fee's that other digitizing companies demand. With our own software we can start work as soon as we get the job and we have complete control over costs and any tweaks to your design that you may require in the future.

Set up fee's

If you have your own logo then we charge according to the complexity of the design, but usually it doesn't exceed the £10 margin. For basic pre-digitized text we don't charge a set up fee.

Direct to Garment Printing (DTG)

With the latest digital printing equipment at our exposal we can print the most complex images in high quality with no minimum order requierments. Our digital printing equipment consists of a DTG (direct to garment) printer, Sublimation printing and a Versacamm printer.

Direct to garment printing, also known as DTG printing, digital garment printing and inkjet to garment printing, is a process of printing on textiles and garments using specialized inkjet technology. Rather than firstly printing the image onto transfer paper and then applying that image to the garment with a heat press, DTG printing applies the print directly onto the garment.

The beauty of this machine is that it for the first time allows full colour graphics to be printed onto garments with no setup costs, no transfer paper to wash off or fade and truly high detailed intricate designs that would give even the best screen printer a headache.

Until recently, DTG printers could only print effectively onto white garments. However, thanks to advances in technology and the latest white inks we are now able to offer DTG printing on any coloured garment, including very dark colours such as black and navy. Not only can DTG printing reproduce high quality images in more detail than screen printing, the setup costs are also considerably lower.

DTG Printing compared to other printing methods

Pros

  • Ideal for small quantities
  • Great for multi-coloured prints, simpler designs might be better with Versacamm
  • Similar quality to screen printing
  • Modern DTG printers can print onto any colour of garment

Cons

  • Expensive inks increases per print cost
  • Due to the time involved in printing the DTG printer is not ideal for large runs, for that we would use screen printing.

Cad Cut Vinyl

Vinyl printing or Cad Cut is when a sheet of vinyl is cut using a special plotter which is then heat applied to the garments.?

Vinyl printing is generally limited to simple text and designs a 1 colour print is the norm but we can overlay different colours of vinyl to produce some clever effects... The artwork is required in a vector format which is produced in a software package i.e. Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, this artwork format produces the design in lines as opposed to pixels as in a jpeg image.

The artwork is sent in mirror image to the vinyl cutter, which is very much like a large printer, however instead of using ink it uses a blade. Once the image has been etched into the vinyl, the vinyl can then be removed from the cutter. The excess vinyl surrounding the image can be weeded (removed) from the backing sheet, once this has removed you will be left with your design.

The design is now ready to be applied to the garment using a heat press. The approx temperature of the heat press to apply the image is 160c, this does vary depending on the garment and the vinyl used. The garment is placed on the heat press base plate and the image can then be placed in the appropriate position on the garment, the heat clamp is then closed for approximately 10-15 seconds and then released. The backing film can now be removed from the garment and you are left with your design.

Vinyls have improved greatly over the last few years and and is should no longer be thought of as a cheap quick fix option we create designs as durable as screen print, with a distinctive clean edge, the quality vinyl we use has been wash tested repeatedly at 60 degrees without any loss of colour or cracking.

When to use Cad Cut Vinyl printing?
