Foodstuffs

Food providers need essential ingredients in order to fulfil menus. These ingredients are commonly called foodstuffs and they differ greatly from kitchen to kitchen but generally include frozen food, chilled food, grocery and impulse. Types of frozen foods include meat, poultry, seafood, fish, fruit and veg. Types of chilled food are chilled meat, dairy produce, sandwich & deli products, fish & seafood, lard & yeast, fresh soup & sauces, potato products, fruit juices, and cheeses. Grocery includes any larder supplies that don’t need chilled or frozen including tinned goods. Foodstuffs are used in commercial kitchens found in restaurants, pizzerias, school canteens, cafes, tea rooms and sandwich bars.
