Netbooks are lightweight and small computers which are often legacy free and were designed for use in circumstances where not much computing power is required such as for surfing world wide web. Netbooks were characterized by their low weight and small screen sizes ranging from 5 inches to 12 inches, although over years 9.7 or 10-inch screen size became the industry standard. Tablets have largely replaced netbooks, but many manufacturers still manufacture a wide range of netbooks. Netbooks lie somewhere between keyboard-less tablets and full function laptops or notebooks as they offer functions found in both computers. Netbooks are generally much cheaper than laptops and it is possible to find educational netbooks under £100 price tag. Chromebooks are closely related to netbooks as these offer the same functions as a netbook and run primarily on Linux based Chrome OS.
