Single Board Computers

Single board computers are a type of computer that is built totally on one single circuit board. In this case, having a single board does not influence the performance of the single board computer (also known as SBC) since they include microprocessors, input/output, memory and all the other additional features of a typical computer. Typical types of single board computers include PXI, CompactPCI, VMEbus, PICMG and VPX. Today, many types of portable computers, laptops, and home computers have all their functions integrated into a single circuit board. On the other end of the spectrum, SBCs are also used in industrial situations including as sea probes in the ocean depths and in outer space in shuttles and rockets.
